Absolutely gorgeous property with more improvements in the works. So much wildlife around, including lizards and birds. The pond and the pool are comfortable areas to spend time. Amazing views of Arenal and easily walkable to anywhere in La Fortuna. Comfortable, large, well-equipped rooms and a delicious breakfast available for a good price. Our room was upgraded to one of the large, upper floor rooms in the annex building that had a kitchenette and a direct view of the mountain. Would stay again without hesitation.

The walls were a bit thin and we got unlucky with consistently loud neighbors. Earplugs were a necessity.

At the end of a road, directly at the forest and with an astonishing view on the Vulcan , the lodge is perfectly situated. The breakfast with the dozen of birds and squirrels is a highlight. Rooms are clean and spacious, beds are comfortable, staff is very friendly and you can book every kind of tours and activities at a reduced price. A very good place to stay at La Fortuna!

The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially when it came to organising tours (I highly recommend the sloth tour with Armando) - they don’t try to sell you anything you don’t need. Breakfast was great: You can choose between a few options and enjoy it on the terrace while watching all kinds of birds visiting the feeding stations.

There’s a club/discotheque close by - the music was rather loud in the evening. That said, nothing my earplugs couldn’t handle.

Excellent location, fantastic bird and wildlife viewing from the restaurant patio, good included breakfast, well appointed rooms albeit a bit dated. Great coffee. Enjoyed other meals at the restaurant. Excellent tour suggestions, free ice.

Did not jump in the pool, so cannot comment on it. Good common area around it though. We are early risers so breakfast starting at 7 is a bit late for us.

Genialna lokalizacja, niedaleko do centrum La Fortuna, ale pod samym lasem. Fajna restauracja hotelowa z genialnym widokiem na drzewa i egzotyczne ptaki. Uprzejma obsługa.

Niestety hotel jest na terenach podmokłych i w pokojach mocno czuć pleśń. Obsługa udostępniła nam oczyszczacz powietrza ale i tak osoby z alergią na grzyby powinny tego miejsca unikać.

The young men at the desk were incredibly helpful booking activities and further travel. Armando is fantastic and we recommended his sloth tour to others we met The highlight was eating breakfast while watching a fabulous assortment of birds that came to the feeders

L’hotel è in una posizione meravigliosa! Fare colazione (ottima)con il vulcano sullo sfondo insieme gli uccellini e gli scoiattoli vale il soggiorno! Il personale è gentilissimo, l’hotel offre pure sconti per le attività sul territorio. Ottimo e consigliato!

L’hôtel est très bien placé; le petit-déjeuner est très très bon et la vue est magnifique. Le personnel est charmant

- Delicious breakfast. The breakfast / dining area has an amazing view. They feed local birds a few metres from where you eat and we we saw so many species (highlight was a toucan!!) - Huge bedroom with loads of beds (even though we ordered a double, we could have slept 8) - Clean room that was cleaned every day - Perfect location - Very friendly, helpful staff - Pool table and cheap beer available - They have just built a pool with a fountain - Quiet part of town but only takes 5 minutes to walk to the main road - Aircon So many positives; we would absolutely recommend this hotel!!

- The mattress was old and uncomfortable. We slept on a spare quilt and that made it better

Sehr schöne Unterkunft mit perfekter Lage am Rand von La Fortuna. Es ist ruhig und man kann dennoch alles super gut zu Fuß erreichen. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und man kann alle Touren vor Ort buchen. Das Frühstück war ausgezeichnet und wunderbar mit Blick auf den Vulkan

We had a great stay here. The location is perfect, giving excellent views and a feeling of being immersed in nature, while still being only 5 minutes walk from the town. Our room was big and had everything we expected in it. The best thing about this place are the staff, everyone was so helpful and friendly, they gave us so much advice and booked transport and trips (at a better price than going direct). The sloth tour with Armando was an absolute highlight - we saw 26 sloths! The restaurant is also very good and we enjoyed a nice meal one evening. The breakfast with birds is wonderful.

The beds are slightly hard, but really there was nothing we didn't like here.

Nous avons apprécié le personnel accueillant, l'appartement spacieux et équipé. La piscine est très jolie, le restaurant avec vue sur le volcan est très appréciable. Le must était de pouvoir observer plein d'oiseaux pendant le petit déjeuner.

It is amazing location right on the edge of town five minutes to the town Square.if you eat breakfast on the property they put out fruit for the all the tropical birds and it’s a show every morning. Beautifully treated property it’s got a pool you feel very comfortable here.

Breakfast with one of the best views you can imagine if you are looking for views of arenal, and tremendous bird watching. The food and service at the restaurant was great as well

Confort peut être un peu rudimentaire des chambres Boiseries très présentes (trop ?) et matelas moyennement confortables …mais on l’oublie vite !! (Le réfrigérateur et la clim sont des plus !)

Le déjeuners sur la terrasse, l'aide du personnel pour les activités. La localisation en ville mais aussi près de la jungle.

Les matelas trops durs dans un chambre et la senteur de moisi dans la même chambre #1.

L'observation des oiseaux le matin avec le petit-déjeuner était la meilleure partie : nous avons vu des toucans, des écureuils mangeant ensemble avec des colibris et d'autres oiseaux. Les espaces communs sont très agréables et la nourriture est incroyable là-bas. Le personnel est très accueillant, vous propose les meilleures excursions et suggère différentes activités, vraiment génial.

La seule chose est la chambre, nous avons pris la chambre standard et elle était très vieille. Odeur d'humidité et humidité sur les murs, ça peut aller pour 1, maximum 2 jours, mais c'est ce que vous obtenez pour le prix. BON rapport qualité-prix.

I recently had the pleasure of spending four nights at Arenal Xilopalo with my family, and I am beyond thrilled to share what an exceptional experience it was. This hidden gem is a nature lover's paradise, offering not only breathtaking landscapes but also a level of service and comfort that sets it apart. Our stay in the apartment was nothing short of perfection, providing ample space and all the amenities needed for our group of six. From the moment we arrived, the allure of Arenal Xilopalo began to unfold. Surrounded by the beauty of untouched landscapes, we felt immersed in tranquility. The proximity to natural wonders added an extra layer of magic to our stay, making it a haven away from the ordinary. Nature trails, a lagoon, and ARMANDO (the gem of Xilopalo) is a nature guide (go on his sloth tour!) and was always around to point out visiting wild animals. The staff at Arenal Xilopalo were not just accommodating; they were warm, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was memorable. Their genuine hospitality and local insights made us feel like part of a close-knit community rather than just visitors passing through. Food was incredible, with the included breakfast being a standout. Fresh, delicious, and expertly crafted, the food at Arenal Xilopalo showcased a commitment to quality that left a lasting impression. For nature enthusiasts, the hotel's surroundings are a paradise for birdwatching. The sight of rare birds became a daily occurrence, adding a touch of wonder to our mornings. It's a unique feature that sets Arenal Xilopalo apart and creates a connection with the natural beauty that surrounds it. Families will appreciate the thoughtfulness put into amenities, particularly the pool. Our kids thoroughly enjoyed their time there, providing us with a perfect spot to relax and unwind after a day of exploration. Being able to walk everywhere was a significant convenience, allowing us to fully embrace the charm of the area.

While Arenal Xilopalo provides a unique and enchanting experience, it's important to note that it caters to those who appreciate the charm of nature over the opulence of a luxury resort. While our stay was incredibly comfortable, some aspects might not align with the preferences of those seeking a more traditional luxury experience. For instance, the design of the bedroom and bathroom involves walls that don't extend all the way up. Though this design maintains ample privacy, it does allow for sounds to travel. We found it added to the authentic atmosphere, but it might not suit those desiring absolute sound isolation. Additionally, the shower experience at Arenal Xilopalo is a departure from the typical luxurious setup. The use of a traditional Central American electric shower requires a bit of patience. These showers are point-of-use heaters connected to a cold-water pipe, meaning you need to run the water pressure slowly to allow time for heating. While it may take a moment to get used to, we found it to be a small trade-off for the overall unique and immersive experience. In essence, if you are someone who values comfort within a more rustic and nature-oriented setting, Arenal Xilopalo is an ideal choice. However, if you prioritize the conventional luxury resort experience, it's essential to be aware of these distinctive features. For us, these characteristics only added to the authenticity and charm of our stay.

Excelente lugar, muy cómodo y el personal muy amigable

Het personeel is mega vriendelijk en staat altijd klaar om te helpen. De sloth tour met de daarbij horende nacht tour door de tuin was enorm leuk. Het restaurant heeft prachtig uitzicht en elke dag is het genieten van alle vogels.

Il personale proattivo nel segnalarti escursioni ma anche gli animali presenti tra gli alberi e il giardino della struttura. Grazie Armando per il “tour notturno”! Colazioni strepitose con vista vulcano Arenal e uccelli di ogni colore.

The location was great- 5 min walk to the hub of the Main Street but quiet (other than the birds and monkeys!). Feels like you’re right in nature, and the views are amazing. Staff were great and so helpful with booking tours etc. breakfast was delicious. Beds were really comfy and the shower was great !

Es war wirklich einzigartig. Wunderschöne, saubere und mit Liebe eingerichtete Zimmer. Kaffee gratis und eine wunderschöne Gartenterrasse mit Blich auf den Vulkan. Sehr viele Tucane und andere Vogelarten sind zu sehen. Das Essen incl. Frühstück ist auch sehr gut und preiswert, auch die Getränke. Wir haben auch noch verlängert da es uns sehr gefallen hat!

Eigentlich gibt es nichts von uns zu beanstanden, außer dass der Pool im Hofbereich liegt und das Wasser sehr frisch ist😃.

Habitacion muy amplia y limpia, ofrecian muchas actividades y el trato a los huespedes es excepcional. Excelente relacion calidad-precio.

Todo me gusto. Lo recomiendo al 100%.
