Location. Friendly staff.
Facilities are non-existent, although there’s a room with a bar which also serves as the reception. AirCon in the room was ineffective, but there was a free-standing fan in the room which made the nights bearable.

The Canal House Hotel is a beautiful gem in the historic/cultural district by one of the canals. A strikingly decorated 17th Century merchant's house with dutch artwork and bold lighting, it is a treasure of a place. The staff are sooo welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was delicious! The rooms very comfortable, with a various selection of supplies and necessities. We loved it.

good location, wonderful staff
The shower/bath area was not a separate room which was awkward when sharing a room with a friend! we were also there when it was unseasonably hot and the air conditioner did not work at all.

The Canal House was perfectly placed to visit the main sites. Good restaurants are nearby and it’s quiet enough to have a decent nights sleep too! I would highly recommend it.
It’s not that I didn’t like anything more a note of caution. The stairs are typical of the tight houses of Amsterdam. Luckily there is a lift!

The room was amazing, couldn’t have asked for better decor or the staffs friendliness. Really loved this place! So worth it and literally right in the centre, a couple minute walk and your where all the shops are.

we were unlucky on the last of our three nights as had a couple next door who were fighting and the noise carried. the hotel were supportive but down side of small boutique hotel

Very dark! if you have even a minor visual impairment you will struggle.

Wonderful hotel. Room was exceptional with view of canal. Breakfast was fresh and choices perfect. outdoor areas looked nice but we visited in winter.

wonderful view of canal. Decor of dark walls with purple accents, incredible soft bed and luxury linens. Beautiful mosaic bathroom. Black walls in hotel gives a fabulous vibe.

A beautiful property with great character and design. The staff were very friendly - especially Melanie and Owen, they were very helpful and friendly.
They need to do room service, sometimes you just want to enjoy the property and sit in the garden with snacks etc.
