Das Frühstück, wie auch das Abendessen (für $10/P) war vegetarisch möglich und sehr lecker. David und das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Zimmer war einfach eingerichtet, aber in Ordnung.
Die Fenster konnten wir nicht öffnen, weshalb es teilweise etwas stickig und muffig roch. Dies könnte allerdings auch daran gelegen haben, dass es viel geregnet hatte und feucht war.

Wir haben 4 wundervolle Nächte bei David und seiner Familie verbracht.
Die Zimmer sind sehr sauber und gut eingerichtet. Der Garten ist wunderschön und David zeigt einem gern die vielen Chamäleons, die dort leben.
Einen Tag haben wir mit David eine Farmtour gemacht. Hier haben wir viel über die Region und die Arbeit der lokalen Farmer erfahren. Außerdem waren wir auf dem lokalen Markt, auf Davids eigener kleiner Farm und haben einen Kochkurs bei seiner Frau gemacht. Wanderungen sind von der Unterkunft ebenfalls gut zu starten.
David hat uns bei der Ankunft am Bus abgeholt und auch die Bus-Tickets nach Moshi hat er für uns organisiert. Einfach perfekt!
In Davids Homestay fühlt man sich wirklich zuhause. Wir hatten eine wundervolle Zeit hier! Vielen Dank und bis bald!

First of all, had arrive in Lushoto town late in the evening and I made my booking right there...I was amazed with how prompt and smooth my booking went through 😊.
The location was very easy to find from my Google ma;, as I arrived, I was treated with a welcoming warm reception complemented with a chilled homemade palm fruit juice.🍹
The place is quietly stucked in between beautiful flowers garden and trees with maximum tranquillity that you can truly disconnect from your regular hustle and bustle.
I had booked the dormitory room and I was amazed with the level of cleanliness and a very comfy bed...great great value for money 🤑. Had also access to house slippers, plenty of blankets and duvets.
I ordered my dinner in-house which is made at your own convenience. I enjoyed some delicious fresh beef noddles with salads and fresh juice, was yummy and plenty. They also serve a free breakfast as per your booking, with variety of options. 👌🏾
Lushoto generally has cold weather, and the host offers free hot Tea and Coffee at your convenience throughout the day...had too much coffee that night 🥺
I also had the opportunity to meet the owner, he's such a gentleman, very welcoming and helpful, was willing to go out of his way to make you feel comfortable, provide you with enough informations just to make your Lushoto visit memorable. Great host indeed 💯
My stay was short 🥴, only had a single night there as I was supposed to be in Dar the next day.

Great location, room super cosy and nicely decorated and David is VERY helpful and kind. The food is excellent too! Our kids loved seeing the Chamäleons in the garden and playing with the dogs. Many places to visit around, although not reachable by foot. David is helpful in organizing the visits and tours.

Nice location in the middle of nature. The room was very modern and clean. The host David was extremely kind, and the food was excellent. We stayed for 1 night, but we would definitely recommend staying longer to explore all the surrounding activities. It is also a good place to start your multiple day hike from.

We had a really great time. The whole fam and staff are super nice and helpful. Rooms are spotless and spacious. The garden is amazingly build with many plants, flowers and animals (chameleons & monkeys).
We had plenty of yummy food for dinner. For breakfast they offered by far the best juice we all ever had - selfmade passionfruit juice!!
David was super accomodating and offered to take us to some spots around Lushoto. We went to the waterfall, national park and a viewpoint where we could see the sunset in all beauty. Overall, super nice trip.
The current dining room is quiet small and the only spot with wifi connection. Therefore, it got quiet crowded. But: David is building a new house with common and dining rooms at the moment. I think this will add great value to the homestay.

Nice location, comfortable family room, very nice home-made food.
Although it didn't quite match our expectations (based on the glowing reviews on this site and compared to other similarly priced guesthouses during our 4 weeks in Tanzania), we did enjoy our stay. Whilst we were happy to walk or pay for a motirbike ride into town, it would have been a nice gesture for the owner to drop us off in town at the end of our stay - without charging us extra.

This is the most comfortable homestay by far that we visited during our trip. The shower is the best of all Tanzania for sure. And the beds are really big and comfortable. In general, you can see that David, the host, really paid attention to the quality of everything that meets European standards. It's also really quite and the hiking tour through the rain forest was a great adventure! David has been really helpful and also organised our further journey and booked everything for us to get to Sansibar save. Also: He just got two incredibly sweet puppies!

David is a very friendly host, he knows Tanzania very well and can answer practical questions as well as questions about animals, nature, history, …
It was also the best shower we had in Tanzania: a lot of pressure and warm water.
The room was very nice but situated in a house that was still under construction. It will become a little paradise but it needs some time: level above us was a construction site, no mirror in the bathroom.

Perfect accommodation for visiting the Usambara Mountains. Large room with the best shower we have had in Tanzania. The breakfast and dinners were incredible: natural cuisine and lots of food. But the best thing was the kindness of all the staff and above all the help that David gives you in everything. He managed all the transfers for us from Moshi and then to Zanzibar, always taking care of all the details.

Driveway to premises is a bit steep for car without 4 wheel. Although i believe this is being worked on.

I really liked the overall vibe of the place. The garden, the common areas, the room. Very clean and nice modern rural design.
David and his family are the nicest people, always ready to help and give advice.
Also the food there is exceptional. For $8 it might seem a bit pricey for africa, but you get a huge multi course menu, including salad, fruits and soup, all is very delicious.
Despite few drawbacks mentioned below, I would definitely happily return and would recommend others to stay here.
The homestay is located quite far from center of Lushoto, with a steep climb. When we booked, we were hoping to get a nice view in the valley, but the property is surrounded by tall trees (its not complain just want to clarify for other future clients).
Lushoto can get quite cold and so do the rooms. There is no heating, so you have nowhere to warm up (except taking hot shower or getting in bed). We unfortunately got both sick and had to skip one day of hiking because of that. Also there was quite annoying moldy smell from the high humidity in the ground-floor room.

David and the other staffmembers where so friendly and made me feel really welcome. David was happy to help whenever I needed it, the food was absolutely amazing and the dorm room I stayed in was really nice!

The location is amazing: Green, private and calm. A lot of nice plants and flowers with cameleons hidden in between.
The room is clean and spacious. The double bed is comfortable and the bathroom has reliable hot water and the best shower we had in Tanzania.
The breakfast which is included is tasty and local. The lunch and dinner offered are delicious and healthy as well.
We felt very welcome, since David and his family are the perfect hosts. David replied quickly to every message and helped us with a tour and transport to Zanzibar.
If you’re around, don’t hesitate and stay here for at least a few nights!

It can be chilly and humid in this area, so be prepared to bring a sweater and/or jacket. In the room were enough blankets to be comfortable at night.

The environment and David + staff made the stay fantastic. They prepare good meals and are very helpful overall. Great areas to relax by the rooms.
Highly recommend if you're in the area.
It's very humid (rain forest), which can make sleep a bit tougher. A/C would make it 10/10. The hill up/down is a bit scary!

The room is new, beautiful and clean.
We had excellent breakfasts and dinners there every day!
The staff is very kind and David is an amazing host, closed all the buses for us (from Dar to Lushoto and from Lushoto to Arusha), recommended us about the activities in the area and we even went on a day trip with him. He has a lot of connections with guides in Tanzania and he helps with what is needed (he also a guide for safari tours himself!).
Very warm recommendation, we really loved staying there!

Amazing location. Unfortunately we just spend one night but we will definitely come back for longer. The location was beautiful, the rooms are super clean and comfortable. Also the Garden and the dining area are cozy and beautiful. You can see monkeys while you have delicious breakfast.
The host David and his family and staffs are all very welcoming and super helpful and friendly.

Rooms are among the best I have seen in Tanzania. Very clean and robust. David was super helpful with arranging activities in the area. Rest or staff also super friendly. Please note that the location is outside of city center.
Worth highlighting: Ongoing construction with limited noise. Partial power and water outages. Lunch or dinner is $8.

The bedroom is very new and it has everything you need, it is comfy and clean! The staff is super nice and the food very good (quantity and quality). The environment is nice, lots of chameleons to look for 😍. David is very helpful and available, he can organise for you anything you want, I know also that he offers tours but I didn't do one. I got sick during my stay and David brought me to the hospital and took care of everything, he also brought me to the bus station when I left... Thank you again for everything. I recommend everybody to go there!

It had a beautiful garden with an extremely helpful staff, delicious food and the whole place makes you feel welcome. nice place to rest inside the usambara mountains plus do some trekking there.
the accomodation had always warm water in the shower, you could buy drinks and meals.

Town is in walking distance within 30 minutes
it is a bit isolated but you can walk to town and David is always open to give you a lift if you ask him. :)

The owner David is very friendly and extremely helpful. He picked us up from the bus station and brought us there free of charge. Also he organized a day trip with a trip at 10pm for the next day. He also organized a very good bus for our trip to Bagamoyo and bought us the tickets while we were hiking. The rooms are small but clean. Breakfast is great. We took a bus at 6am from Bagamoyo and David even packed us a sandwiches for the bus.
The bathroom was very small and sometimes a little smelly.

David is a great host and provided us with a lot of advice what to do in Lushoto and beyond. We decided to go for a paid hike with him that offered stunning views of the Usambara mountains. Great breakfast, also for vegans. :) The accommodation comes with a big garden and we had the opportunity to see chameleons and monkeys there. Recommendable!

David was incredibly helpful during our stay and helped us with organising anything we needed. The room was very comfortable and the location was ideal for us as we had gone to Lushoto for hiking. It was about a 25minute walk to the town (but still accessible).
We loved the homestay aspect to our stay. The dinners were amazing and it really felt like we were having home cooked food! David even helped us on our last day with buying our bus tickets for our next destination and dropping us at the bus stop which was so helpful.

Our only slight comment would be the internet wasn't very reliable while we were there but at the same time, it was quite nice to disconnect for us!

The best place in Lushoto I have been. The place is very home feeling and very beautiful. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The room is very clean and they have hot water. The breakfast was very delicious. David organise my trip for the Usambara mountians. It was my best trip in Tanzania. I had the best guide with me. Baraka is very knowledge about the nature and he is very educated. If you like to go for village hiking he is the best guide in Lushoto!
I really enjoy my stay in this place. It's very peaceful for sure. I hope to come back!
