Excellent location in the middle of Tulum, just 2 blocks from downtown Tulum. It's GOOD to keep a short distance from the non-stop music. Many restaurants around, not a problem for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The ADO bus station is on the Right of the main street, 10-15 mins walk; A taxi service center is on the Left of the main street, 5 mins walk.
Room is small but cozy and clean. Wifi is smooth, Air-conditioning works well. The Hotel host, Mr. Jose Antonio very nice and helpful, he always make us feel warm.
I would recommand this place if you would like to stay in town of Tulum.

Jose is a most gracious and helpful host. We spent a comfortable night in a pleasant atmosphere with good value. Sad they're not serving breakfast any more.

It is a small property without the bells and whistles of a large chain which enhances the experience. Very friendly service, room has everything you need and the location is very convenient. Jose had great suggestions for things to do and we wouldnt hesitate to stay here again.

I like that the hotel is completely enclosed with locking gate. Although I arrived at night and wasn't sure where to find the entrance. Look for the doorbell! The pool is very small, the courtyard is beautiful. Room was clean with everything you need; bottled water, soap, shampoo, AC. Highly recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Sofia. It was perfect for our diving trip. It is centrally located within two blocks of the dive shop we operated out of. Keep in mind that my kid and I went there with the purpose of diving in mind. This, it was a pretty rustic trip with few frills involved. We dived almost everyday and really looked at our hotel as a place to crash. It is within walking distance of everything in the center of town. For visiting the ruins, a taxi is easy to catch. Staff are friendly and accommodating. For travelers looking for the “all inclusive experience”, this is not your hotel. For those wanting a more traditional stay in the heart of a rapidly-expanding small Mexican city, it is perfect. I would and probably will stay at Hotel Casa Sofia again.

During the day the hotel looks beautiful, they have a rooftop which is gorgeous and the pool is very calm and tranquil. The bathroom was great and huge, the room was a little old style. Close to restaurants and main street of Tulum town.

Really cute, traditional style hotel, dont expect a big fancy resort, but great for what it is, a real boutique hotel run by locals. Breakfast was basic, would have appreciated slightly hoter water in the shower but otherwise great.

Great value hotel. Very clean and lovely staff. Is in a fabulous location to Tulum centre, and easy bike or cab ride to beach or ruins. The breakfast was very basic, we really only had a wake up coffee before heading out to find something more appetising. I like a firm bed, but found it a little too firm. The plunge pool was great for cooling off and the rooftop terrace lovely. We usually stay at slightly higher grade hotels but was happy here for a few nights, was great to save the $s for experiences other than accommodation:-)

Awesome quiet little Inn with a courtyard and small outdoor pool.

Friendly staff. Very welcoming. Street looks a little tough but seemed safe. Had almost no hot water for shower, tepid at best.

The staff is so lovely and helpful, and the hotel is very charing. The rooms were always really clean, and the pool and rooftop are great. The location is great; it is very close to local restaurants and markets and just a few blocks from the bus station. However, there was no hot water, the pool strictly closes at 7:00 p.m., the bed and pillows were not very comfortable, and the free breakfast had extremely limited options. I would stay here again because of how nice everyone was, plus the cleanliness and great location, but for the price they should really think about fixing the hot water, expanding pool hours and improving the comfort level and breakfast.

The hotel is perfect for those wanting to explore the Tulum area. The owners were friendly and made us feel right at home. They gave us recommendations for some local spots that aren't as touristy which were fabulous. Walk to other bars/restaurants in less than 5 minutes. Small pool and rooftop were perfect for relaxing with a cerveza after checking out cenotes or the more "busy" beach bars. Their complimentary breakfast was also perfect to start the day with some fresh fruit, carbs, protein, and caffeine!

Great little hotel and staff! Rooms were on smaller side, but clean and there was also a safe. Breakfast served each morning which was perfect before heading out to ruins (less than 10 mins away) or a cenote (couple within 20 minutes), or the beach (10 away). Jose had some really good recommendations if you want a more local, non-touristy feel. Walk to everything downtown and after running around during the day it was nice to come back and jump in pool then head up to the rooftop solarium for the view and a cerveza. Highly recommend if you are ok with staying in town instead of on the beach.

We had 2 nights at the Casa Sofia ....parking was round the corner and good. Room was average size....ground floor outside small pool courtyard. Bathroom seemed quite new. Slight plumbing problem on immediate arrival as when used hot tap, water gushed from pipes onto floor!! However main man, who checked us in and did breakfasts etc immediately on hand to sort. Breakfast continental but plenty choice---juice/cereal/breads/cheeses. 5 minute walk onto main Tulum shop/restaurant street.
Beach towels given on request, as was hairdryer. Good value for money....only key decision is do you stay in Tulum town, or beach strip? As we had 5 beach nights to come at Playa Del Carmen, we stayed in town. However, we drove along the hotels and coast, and as I wasn't that bothered about Tulum town, would probably opt for staying on the coast. It took us about 10 mins in car to the archaeological site.....take your beach towels with you as you have access from the site to a lovely beach!

This is a very lovely small hotel, hidden behind some small side streets. It is very charming and super clean. Would definitely stay there again and is a great alternative to the larger brand name hotels.

Very charming, visually pleasant and comfortable experience. The owner and staff were very helpful with information. Location was handy for being right in tiwn. Just wish it were on the beach. It's about a 15-20 minute drive to access a public beach. The room was spacious and clean, beds were firm and very comfortable. Showers were hot. I stayed for a week. Last night they put a half bottle of chilled sparkling wine in my room and two roses on the windshield of my car, parked out front on the street.

This hotel looks quaint on the outside and has a nice cafe/restaurant inside. The rooms, however, are more Mexican "3-star" standard than US "3-star" standard. While the rooms do have AC, it's an older box-model AC with the knobs broken off which you operate by flipping on a switch on the wall. The mattresses are not padded and are covered by a plastic mattress cover. The sheets were clean, but so threadbare you could see the outline of a person through the wear and tear.
There is a swimming pool and a restaurant, but they are right outside the door if you are staying in the front of the property and definitely add to the noise if the room.
The included breakfast was really good and had a lot of local specialties worth trying, and the location was superb! Right in the middle of town facing the zocalo.
One thing to note is that on some nights, there is a live, amplified band playing tango music in the Zocalo which is really loud and doesn't stop until 10pm. I don't think it's possible to sleep in this location until after 10pm given the tango music, swimming pool and bar. That said, what a fun, lively place! If you are adventurous and are seeking a local experience in an amazing town, this place fits the bill.
