Ridiculous to pay for parking. Lot was too far from entrance and uphill. Not good for the elderly. You should provide a shuttle from the parking lot. Resort does not have a warm feel to it. Room 452 has a lovely balcony next to it which was locked.

Pictures doesn’t do justice on how beautiful this place was. Wish the front desk would tell all the amenities and where because we had to explore and figure out on our own. Also check your receipt. They didn’t explain the parking fees and also had several extra charges on my room that didn’t belong to us and when I called to discuss it the front desk kept trying to push me off the phone and said a manager will review it and didn’t explain what to expect. Also several pending charges for way more than spent so wouldn’t recommend using your debit card so you don’t have to worry about the funds. Overall clean, beautiful place just a lot of unknown and not clarified.

Lovely location, nice looking hotel. Unfortunately we were over the pool on the second floor and it was very very noisy. The room was ok, however we found someone else's Kalvin Klein's in the bathroom!!! The food in the bar and for room service was fine, however everything was served in disposable containers. The cutlery was compostable but this was only if done commercially which of course is not the case when trash goes straight in the bin. For the price I expect a plate and proper knife and fork.

Excellent Hotel! Everything was fabulous

Hotel was just average condition and service. Nothing mentioned ahead of time during booking about the horrible parking and charges incurred to park the car. Long walks back and forth from room to parking lot. Restaurant(s) closed during our stay.

The property is in a state park, on the beach. There are no other properties in close proximity and therefore the beach is quiet.

Beautiful property and perfect time to visit it seemed. Everything was so clean and all staff were super friendly.

I believe this place will be on my top 3 places to stay. From the time we arrived until the time we checked out was just amazing. We had an ocean view and even though it was right after Christmas we went out on the balcony with our coffee and just was mesmerized. I cannot wait to come back!

This hotel provides easy access to the beach and the state park. I looked forward to taking a walk every morning while watching the sunrise and sunset. There are several bicycles on-site that you can use for free to get around the state park. We enjoyed relaxing there.

One of 2 elevators was down for the week. It is part of the Gulf state park, so we brought our eBikes to ride around. We could bring them to our room for safekeeping. This is a very convenient place to stay for eBikes or bicycles as well.

Stayed here before 2 years ago and had an amazing time, we were hoping for the same. Arrived Thursday late, walked down to the dark beach. Awesome, love it. Next day, beach is closed and everyday following for construction. Guests were not told of this closure, and construction workers threatened to call the cops on visitors getting too close to them, even on the pier. Construction day and night, no point in paying for the beachfront view. People checking today as we were checking out told me they were not told of the beach closure either, many angry people. At least communicate with your guests please

I am extremely disappointed with our stay at The Lodge. My husband and I were looking forward to a relaxing experience at one of the Gulf’s most pristine beaches to celebrate New Year’s Eve. Unfortunately, we were notified upon checking into our room that the beaches were in the middle of a 24-HR dredging project right on the beach directly in front of the hotel. The loud machines kept us up all throughout the night, it was absolutely miserable. We were promised that if we were not satisfied with our experience due to the beach construction, that our room would be offered to us at a discounted rate for compensation. When we went to checkout, there was no compensation at all. So, we paid full price for a Gulf View (dredging site view) room at a highly rated hotel, and had a very poor experience to say the least. Although the dredging project is out of the hotels control, they could have done a better job to offer other accommodations/options for the major inconvenience especially on a big holiday. We would not have had this issue if we had chosen to stay somewhere else, and in the future we will!

Lovely hotel right on the white sand beach.

Hotel was very nice, beach and views amazing. Handicap accommodations not so. There are only 3 handicap parking spots. The rest of the parking is a hike.

I wish there were more fire pits available to use, as it was cold enough at night to use them. The breakfast for my second morning was terrible! It was a simple breakfast sandwich but the muffin wasn’t toasted and the meat and egg was cold. They should post more notices that the restaurants and room service were not open/available.

Perfect peaceful stay. This property sits on state park. Away from chaos. See the sun rise and set over same balcony. Would definitely stay again

The hotel has large rooms, great food and lots of beach and trails to enjoy. The staff was very nice and the ocean views were wonderful. Lots of nice indoor and outdoor amenities. The only thing I would change is the bedding. This warm Southern hotel has thick Arctic-weight quilts on the bed and no available light blankets. It means you’re either too hot or too cold all night.

We had a fantastic time at The Lodge. The staff was amazing and valet attendants were quick and efficient. The beach was clean and gulf view room was perfect.

Simple perfection. All in one …. Hiking and bike riding on one side …the beach on the other. We literally did a walk this morning on the beach and in the woods. You won’t regret your stay if you desire a place to relax. There are four places to eat on the grounds.

I travel quite a bit for business and pleasure. The Lodge is at the top of my list for pristine gorgeousness in all regards, the staff and service are outstanding, the non-commercial atmosphere is refreshing, and of course it is very clean. I felt so honored to have a delicious plate of fresh fruit and cheese, and a bottle of wine upon my arrival...and also, a favorite wine! I am returning in April.

The lodge is on a pristine beach in the State Park far from the high-rises and the commotion. Absolutely serene.
My only negative comment - there was no visible way to access the heat and cool modes on the thermostat and easily regulate the temperature. We had to have building services come assist. We were told this is a common problem
Still 5 stars all the way. .

The actual building looks like a Soviet style block house probably the design was approved by some Alabama State employee.
Service very good. Employees very plesant. Parking w/o valet get your hiking shoes on.
Location to State Park facilities excellent with access to trails so you will need your hiking shoes.

The property was big with multiple food options. The staff was great and so were the amenities. It is close to everything but feels remote. It was a very relaxing environment.

No coffee available before 6:00 AM. This is a BIG deal to me. I want to have coffee on the beach before Sunrise.
