Friendly and helpful staff, thank you guys.
Beautiful hotel, comfortable room, good breakfast with enough choice.
I'll definitely pick this hotel again when I'll come back.

My friend and I stayed at this hotel for about 5 days back in October. We were drawn by the old school Chinese villa theming of the hotel. It absolutely delivers on that experience while still providing modern comforts like modern bathrooms and clean rooms. The rooms are half-outdoor but we found the insulation, bedsheets, and AC/heat unit more than adequate at maintaining preferred room temps. Rooms are small but exactly as described in the listing description, so no surprises there. There is also outdoor seating at the patio and rooftops that were not often used by guests and very private and scenic. Breakfast had a mix of both eastern & northern Chinese/Beijing-specific options and western dishes.
The staff at this place is fantastic!!! Every worker was so kind and helpful. One of the receptionists, Alice, helped us book visits to the Forbidden Palace and Tiananmen when our phones failed to connect to WeChat. A lifesaver!
If I ever visit Beijing again I will stay here again for sure. I have already recommended this place to my family and other friends visiting the city. Absolutely lovely hotel experience.

The hotel is very unique but also well maintained. The rooms are very warm, a nice place to come back to after being out in the freezing weather

My group was here for just one night in December when we got stuck in Beijing during the snow. We booked the room last minute on Expedia and showed up late at night. The reception was so friendly and helped us get settled in. Gave us water bottles too. The rooms are nicely decorated, comfortable, and I appreciated the tea set in the room as well. The next day, the receptionist helped us book a cab to the train station. The courtyard is nicely decorated as well with tables and chairs. I bet it would be enjoyable during the summer. I wish we had time to stay here longer to check out the other amenities like the restaurant.
It was a little hard for us to find at first. We had to walk down the alley for a couple minutes at night. We came during a snowstorm so the Didi driver was not comfortable driving through the narrow alley (understandable). I would recommend looking at photos before arriving so you know what the building entrance looks like.

An amazing hotel in a quiet Hutong alley in Beijing, easily accessible by metro and to the airport. Excellent service with friendly staff, making us feel very welcome throughout. Able to help with queries booking tours and tickets. Excellent breakfast. A lovely hotel and one we can not wait to return to - would definitely recommend the honeymoon room!

A Hutong Hotel with character and with cosy inner yards and roof terraces. We were here in December and -10 C so… no, we didn’t hang out much there.
Walking distance to Metro station Dongsi.
Staff is wonderful, nice little breakfast buffet, quiet neighbourhood. A very good place.

This property once owned by a Chinese philosopher and politician Ji Yun in Qing dynasty. There is history instructions in the yard for the travelers. The property itself located in the Hutong, which is how the local people live in the old times. This hotel is a unique place to experience the Beijing folk culture. The room is clean, the staff is awesome, and the breakfast is decent. There’s no parking here due to the narrow hutong is not friendly to cars at all. But it’s ok to have sedan or suvs to pickup/drop off the travelers.

This is a beautiful quiet place to wind down when you're in Beijing. I got it because the pictures looked appealing. When I got here, the hotel lived up to its expectations and more.
It is pretty close to a bustling area in Beijing but the actual area is pretty quiet. The whole hotel is giving off a museum vibe almost. The staff is always ready to help when i needed it.
Excellent place to stay! I am very impressed.

I spent one night in this traditional and authentic hutong experience hotel. The overall room facility and decoration were a bit out of date but were very clean and conformable. All its staff were friendly and always willing to help.
All in all, it is a traditional Beijing Hutong courtyard hotel offering high standard services to its customers. If you like traditional Chinese culture, it is highly recommended!

The hotel is very traditional Beijing style. It is about 10 minutes walk to a subway station. There are lots of food options in the area. The staffs are very friendly. They order taxi for us and provide us tour information. I highly recommend this hotel

I checked in at around 2:30 am. It had been a long and frustrating day. And I was very hungry! The receptionist right away took me to the kitchen and offered me a bag of croissants! She was so kind and helpful. Overall the hotel was just what I was looking for. What a gem! It’s down an alley in a cute neighborhood. It gave me an authentic look and feel of the country (the building is 200 years old but very well maintained). It’s charming and clean. I love the open courtyard. The staff were all so friendly and they all speak good English. The bed and the room were comfy. Very good service. Lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Also the subway is within close walking distance.

If you are looking for an experience much like the Chinese live, you should stay here. This is in a great location and hidden in the mix of where people live. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. Subway is also within walking distance. They serve a great breakfast every morning and the staff is very friendly and speaks English well. Also, keep in mind this is not a Hilton or the Hyatt, it's very minimal in some of the rooms. My friend had a much nicer room than I did, but that was an upgrade. When you walk outside of your room, you are outside (still in the actual hotel, but outside weather conditions). I probably wouldn't stay here in the winter again, but it would be nice in the summer.

I could not recommend Beijing Double Happiness Hotel any more. The hotel is located in beautiful building in historical hutong-area. The room was very clean and had all the amenities I could have wished for. Breakfast was great too. The service here was unbeatably kind and helpful, and the staff speaks great English. They housekeeping staff had brought a English newspaper in my room, and they even helped me out when I had trouble with my taxi driver and called to the reception. Next time when in Beijing I will definitely stay here again!

It's a bit of walking to the closest subway station(~15min for me), and about 30 min total (subway walking) to some major tourist sites, but, the service is good, breakfast is good, area is safe, and the interior is very unique. Overall I definitely enjoyed my stay!

This place was super quaint and traditional Chinese. Very lovely. Many of the staff spoke good English and made us comfortable. They gave us a free room upgrade because we are a tall group. All you can eat bufffet breakfast started our days off great! Centrally located in the heart of "Old Town."

Wonderful. Whoever did the interior decoration did an amazing job of taking an old concrete structure and turned it into something magical.
It's beautifully decorated, with excellent service, and nicely located to the main attractions in Beijing. It is one of the best small hotels I have ever stayed in.

Just when I thought I could not love this hotel more, we found a massage parlor within short walking distance of the property! Everything was fantastic, great service, delicious complimentary breakfast, authentic building with every Western amenity we could want. This hotel was recommended to us and it ended up being our favorite hotel of our trip through China!

Very good, unique place to stay. Different from others. Traditional Chinese looks mixed with good housekeeping standards.

We booked two family rooms which were spacious, There was enough space for three adults. Each room was uniquely decorated in oriental style and equipped with aircon (even a bath tub). Good place to stay in old hutong area.

This hotel was amazing!! It was the little things and close attention to detail in the service that made this place so great. We can’t wait to go back! Also, great local art sold and the breakfast was sooooo good.

Double Happiness is a unique, colorful, charming hotel located in one of Beijing’s precious few remaining hutong neighborhoods, where life has gone on for hundreds of years. The birds by the front door will speak Chinese to you, the staff is delightful, the breakfast buffet is excellent, my room was great, and overall my experience was a pleasure that I intend to repeat the very next time I’m Beijing.

The hotel stuff was outstanding!! Breakfast needs a bit improving. We experienced blackout for a short while the night we are staying but it got sorted out within 15 mins so no big issue. Floor is traditional concrete and the building is old but that’s what we are asking for - an experience in old Beijing courtyard house right?

What a lovely stay at Beijing Double Happiness Hotel!
My husband and I stayed there for 3 nights (from March 9 to 12) in room # 078 and absolutely enjoyed our trip.
A mix of tradition and confort is all we were hoping for! The hutongs are trully beautiful.
The staff was very nice and available for our requests. They also speak good english and it's helpful in Beiijing.
They suggested us a great massage place (not for tourists) close to the hotel and we had an amazing chinese massage!
We would go back without hesitation!

Wow! We stayed in three hotels on our trip: one at Shanghai Disney (with Disney's legendary great service), one ritzy hotel by Nanjing Road in Shanghai, and this hotel in Beijing. The one with the best service was... Beijing Double Happiness Hotel! Yeah - they outdid DISNEY. Every single employee we interacted with at BDHH was incredibly friendly and helpful and spoke very good English. They had recommendations and wanted to help in any way possible. They booked us taxis and the Chinese version of Uber (I think it was called Fast Car?). They changed money at the going rate with no fee. They recommended a few things to see and do. They didn't freak out when my kids knocked over and shattered one of the clear glasses in the bathroom. They were just great. The room was also lovely - we had a family room with two big beds - and well-appointed. There were tons of useful things like laundry detergent, a (new) loofah, toothbrushes, a computer, and so much more. The courtyard was gorgeous and the location was in a historic hutong, which one of our tour guides thought was really cool that we got to stay in. There are a lot of good places to eat and shop in easy walking distance. Literally my only complaint applies to every bed I slept in in China: it is a bit hard, at least as an American. But we really loved it and if I ever make it back to Beijing I would definitely stay here again!
