Super friendly host/owner who can communicate well in English. His morning walking tour is worth getting up for. Had great recommendations for places to eat and visit. Was able to tailor breakfast for vegetarians, too.
The room was clean and while I have a mold allergy didn't have any issues here (many old hotels/homes in Japan aren't good for me). The aircon was a high-end Fujitsu model that you don't see very often in lodging and it did a great job.
Depending on how many people are staying in the two rooms could be waits for the shared toilet and bathroom.

Izu-kogen is a beautiful place and Takamune-san and his wife are loveable host. At my arrival I was welcomed with a bbq-dinner which was amazingly good (even way too much for just one person). The breakfast is western and made by Takamune's wife, I enjoyed it thoroughly, they make sure you've got everything you need. If Takamune-san invites you on a morning walk, be sure to accept, because it's a beautiful walk and he might share some information about his ancestors, which I found really interesting!

Our host was very communicative, and wanted to get to know us. He took us on a morning walk at 6:30 AM to see the coastline, and was very knowledgable about the area. The location was excellent: very close to the train station (8 min walk) but still in a residential area. There are a lot of quirky museums nearby, and the coast was only about 15-20 minutes away.
The room was just a bit cramped: the was another trundle bed up against the wall, so with 3 twin beds side by side there wasn't much room left. Also, there was a large (harmless) spider that we ended up catching and releasing. We saw another downstairs, so I think it's safe to say they are just part of the area, and you should be prepared to face them in any home around izu-kogen.
About the area itself: we went to see the Illumination show at the Izu Granpal park and struggled to get a taxi home, which was stressful. Our host was unable to pick us up, and the park employees had to help us.

Great experience for home stay type of accommodation. The BBQ dinner prepared by property owner is wonderful.

This place is great. You will love it. Taka and Mo are unbeatable hosts or innkeepers. It is located in a beautiful residential neighborhood walking distance to the Jogasaki Coast, and Taka's morning tour of the Jogasaki is breath-taking. Beautiful scenery, informative guide (Taka), and a good hike. Mo makes an excellent and healthy breakfast every morning with high class coffee and tea . . . Only the best. You will want to stay here again. I will. It's an 8-minute walk to the Izu-Kogen train station and a 1 to 4 minute walk to a number of restaurants down museum road.

The dinner and breakfast were great, wonderful and delicious food. The host took us for a walk to the bridge and coast of the geopark, so that we enjoyed a most wonderful sight of the Izu Kogen.
At night, the stars of the night sky is amazing. We enjoyed the night sky just inside our room.

The house owner is amiable and his English level is very high, so not only I got a great meal and room experience here, I also got lots of info from the house's owner, which made my trip more colorful.
Thanks for providing and sharing such a good house and all the advice.
ps. better to not hire a bike here to the omuro yama(大室山), it may be kinda risky if you don't have good energy or experience.

Great personal attention, and eating in the garden gives a special ring to any location.
the pillow of the bed is quite small and not very soft.

Staff was wonderful. Room was spacious. Bedding (blankets/mattress) was comfortable. Food was good.
Pillows were hard. While the food was good, the cooking situation forced the dining room to become filled with smoke which caused our clothes, by the end of the meal, to reek of smoke.

The facility is located in a very quiet neighborhood surrounded by nature. We chose to have the BBQ at the owners place and were not disappointed. The owners of the place are very kind people, gave us some tips for activities and told us how to grill the fish in the right way. It was really a pleasant experience. The room itself was also very nice, very bright at daytime and offered a great view. Overall, I can highly recommend to stay in this place, especially since the owners are really caring and friendly.

The hosts were very cordial and open-hearted, we went for a morning walk with the owner and his dog, in the evening had a great grill dinner and tasting of home-made umeshu!

The host was wonderful! They were very friendly and hospitable. I received a free sakura drink from them when they knew that I missed cherry blossoms viewing in Kawazu :) It was a comfortable stay. I was the only guest on that day so I had all the facilities to myself. A morning walk with the host and his dog along the beautiful coastlines was wonderful. And I could not finish this review without mentioning that the food was great! Charcoal grill dinner and western-style breakfast, both were delicious! Overall, I was happy with my first experience at B&B!
Wifi connection was unstable.

The breakfast was great and well balanced and the charcoal-grilled dinner of seafood and steak was really good. We became friends with the host couple, who were both very warm and accomodating. We especially enjoyed the morning walk to enjoy the gorgeous views of the sea and nature. Very good, fond memories!
The house is currently undergoing renovations, I'm sure it would definitely improve the dining space when finished.
