The Hugo - Hotel Concept Canterbury

Location was great. Felt safe and secure

Kettle would have been nice

Overall very good ! Fantastic location - went everywhere on foot (was a brief stay so no full-on sightseeing). Will most definitely come back - want to try room 4. Excellent communication with Ben from The Hugo team - would highly recommend to others and, as I said, would readily return. Thank you !

Personal taste : we all prefer a firmer bed Kept hitting my head on the shelf over the washbasin (duh!) ... too deep and too low when you want to wash/rinse your face minor quibbles and have liaised with Ben to share my thoughts and experience

Hotel was about 7 minute walk from the station, close to shops, restaurants and sight-seeing. Lovely shower and comfy bed.

Despite advertising as tea/coffee maker there were no tea making facilities, no tea bags, white sugar and only small coffee cups. I took my own kettle, bags and bought a mug. No space to unpack, so only suitable for short stays. Strange about the room being serviced between 11-3, the first day the shower was cleaned, but the bed not made nor the cups cleaned. Second day the bed was made but the shower wasn’t cleaned, nor the toilet. Either clean it all or don’t bother, very odd. Very loud music from the pub next door, stopped at 11pm Friday but not till midnight Saturday.

This was a pleasant room for several nights. But has some short coming not mentioned in the online information but a good location.

Firstly this room has a treacherous staircase that you need to lug your bags up. Part of it without a hand rail. There are four rooms located above a noisy bar. It is managed remotely by the owner. This itself led to problems. Such as our rooms not being serviced. On Friday and Saturday nights the bar plays thumping music until 12.30am. It's very noisy and you can't sleep. Some of the rooms are very very small. Finally the shower in our room was extremely slippery when wet. It really needed some sort of antislip protection. It was very dangerous.
