We were here in the off season, when this section of Tybee is quiet and light on other vacationers. Enjoyed hearing the surf, seeing stars, making the short walk to the beach and restaurants, and spending time relaxing on the big screened porch. Beautifully decorated cottage, very comfortable for visiting with family despite its compact size.

The Sandpiper was perfectly appointed and we loved everything about it - the decor, the location, the privacy and especially the screened in porch. My husband and I agreed if we ever won the lotto the first thing we would do is try to buy it! We traveled with our 1.5 year old and after some small relocation of decorative objects it was perfect for her.

The cottage is beautifully decorated and comfortable. The kitchen and bathroom are updated, but the designers left the old doors, screens, etc to give it an “old-beachy’ vibe. Couch sooo comfie! The screen porch is huge and wonderful. Although you may wish to bring your own pillows, the beds are comfortable and clean. Tammi, Mermaid, called more than once to assure our comfort and satisfaction. When one of the doors had a problem, she sent her husband over to fix it that day. Chairs and beach toys on ground floor came in handy, as well as the washer/dryer. One warning - although it appears quite close to beach, the seemingly easiest/fastest route is unavailable as a person on 18th Place asserts it is private property, making a bit of a longer trek to the beach, but not horrible. All in all - yes, I would recommend this cottage and, of course, Mermaid!!

I had a terrific, albeit all too short, stay at the Sandpiper! It was easy to find and access and I quickly got myself unpacked so that I could enjoy the screened in porch. The home is beautifully appointed and conveniently located to the shore in order to take advantage of energetic morning walks and relaxing beach time. I also cooked all of my meals and all of the tools I needed were available in the well appointed kitchen. I will definitely return!

My family really enjoyed our stay here! It’s super close to the beach and restaurants. We had some spring break parties in the neighborhood, but we’re lucky to have good insulation so it wasn’t too loud. If you are coming with and infant, it’s a little tight to fit in a pack and play, but doable. We will definitely stay here again and have sent the listing to a few friends looking for something in the area!

The Sandpiper is beautifully remodeled and incredibly cozy. My husband and I stayed there for our anniversary and had a great time in Tybee Island. The location is perfect, you are within walking distance of the active part of the island yet the cottage feels private. The team at Mermaid Cottages took extra care to ensure we had a great time by providing great restaurant recommendations and they left us a bottle of champagne and a card for our anniversary. So thoughtful! We'll be back!

Communicating with host was east and open! The house was perfect for me, my mom, sister and cousin to have a girls get away!! House had everything we needed for the long weekend. Walking distance to beach and main strip but far enough away to be quiet.
The screened in porch was great and we enjoyed the board games!

Excellent communication upfront from Mermaid Cottages. The house itself was clean, in a great location, and had everything our family needed for a relaxing week at the beach. The only area to consider improving would be exterior lighting as it was a bit dark coming in at night. But that was not a huge deal honestly. We would return again. Thanks!

Adorable cottage!
Sandpiper Cottage was absolutely adorable and perfect for our family of four. The house was very clean, and the attention to detail in all aspects of the decor were appreciated. Great location close to the beach, and the screen porch was amazing. Easy check-in, and the communication with the property manager was the best that we have ever experienced.

Overall the cottage was great. Very cutely decorated and clean. Check-in was easy. The only thing to be aware of is that beach towels are not provided, nor are beach chairs. My friends and I bought three beach chairs and left them under the porch, I hope they’re still there for the next renters.

This cottage was excellent! It was very clean, looked just like the pictures, and perfect for all of our needs. It was a quick walk to the beach. We also walked to get ice cream and eat at a couple of restaurants. We were greeted by the mermaids via text before we even reached the cottage and they stayed in contact throughout our stay which was very reassuring. It was a great stay!

Overall a pleasant stay. The house's exterior is much more dilapidated than described and the photo is surely out of date. The air conditioner is somewhat loud but not insurmountable. The unit is advertised as 2nd row but you have to walk around the block to get to the beach, but not too far. Last, the outdoor shower could use some updating also.

He enjoyed our stay in early March. It was our first time on Tybee. We loved it and enjoyed visiting Savannah too. It was the perfect location close to town and the beach. The house was clean and well-stocked. We were blessed with perfect weather!

Parking was the only thing I would ding this house on it is off street parking but I couldn’t imagine trying to park a full size truck or suv. Sandpiper Cottage was adorable and a great fit for our family of 4. We've stayed in Mermaid cottages several times and they never disappoint. The garage was a bonus - perfect for storing our bikes and beach gear. This was our first time staying on the southern end of the island. We loved the sand bar and tidal pools.

The Sandpiper is a very nicely decorated cottage just right for 2-3 guests. Very clean and everything in working order. The staff at Mermaid Cottages was very helpful! Jennifer is nothing less than great! We lacked for nothing. Next visit, we may try a Mermaid Cottage on the marsh side as we had no view at Sandpiper. Although, the beach is a two minute walk from the house, we could not see the beach.

Very clean upon arrival. Mermaid Cottages was very responsive to our texts and questions during our stay. We loved the cottage, how it was decorated and furnished -- so cute and efficient for the space. Kitchen was well stocked -- we didn't need to go get anything extra to accommodate us during our stay. We LOVED how close we were to the beach! It's very close to restaurants, bars and shops as well, but not so close that you hear the nightlife noise. My favorite feature was the screened in porch -- it was very relaxing. The only complaint we had was the master bed -- we didn't find it to be very comfortable, and the pillows need replacing. Otherwise, we had a great time and hope to stay here again!

We had a great time in Tybee. The house was just perfect for my husband, daughter (2yo) and I. I was very surprised how toddler friendly that house was, that is a big deal with our energetic girl! The house was so clean when we got there and had all the amenities we needed. It was the perfect walk to the beach and we loved that we were aware from the crowded pier on the weekend. Everything was wonderful and our next return with Tybee will definitely be with Mermaid Cottages again!

clean, looks like it has been newly decorated and refurbished (upholstery, linens, curtains etc look brand new)good-sized kitchen, very nice roomy 2-sided porch. Very close and convenient proximity to south Tybee beach. Some easy amenities usually found at other properties were missing (no bath soap or small amount of shampoo etc, no SALT or even a few basic cooking ingredients in the kitchen, 1.5 rolls of toilet paper for a 5+ day stay). There is no place to hang damp or wet beach items except over nice furniture on porch- seemed like a bad idea. Basic wall hangers on the porch would help. Basically might be a good property for adults only who want a lovely, aesthetic space but plan to eat out all meals. Families with kid(s) who need the property to "work" will have a few hassles in store. Easily fixable issues, but they provided some hassle for us.
