Crown Hotel

It was right in the centre of town and a fab location

It was very tight and small. The bathroom door hits the bed and can’t be left open to air. It’s very clean but very very tight especially for 2 tall 6 foot people.

Everything. The central position of the hotel and the car park. The room was clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The staff were extremely professional. There is a good food menu to choose from. Overall, a good experience.

Nothing

The beds were comfy and the seating area in the room was perfect. The bathroom was amazing and very clean. The towels were clean, fluffy and big enough. The shower was fantastic as were the complimentary toiletries.

The view out of the room window was a brick wall. The breakfast was plentiful but we could have done with a bit more toast. One of our poached eggs was not cooked in the middle. We were asked, after our plates were taken away, if we'd like anything else. This would have been better asked during the breakfast and not after. Orange juice was lovely, as was the coffee.

The Crown is in the centre of Stamford so very convenient. There is a car park at the rear in which we managed to find a space on both days. Our shower was very good and I liked the Elemis toiletries. Breakfast, which is all table service, was also good and the portions generous.

I paid extra for a room with a king-size bed but was extremely disappointed to find that we were in the basement with no window, only a curtained door onto an area with a stone staircase up to the street. Furthermore the stairs down from the hall to the room and those from the bedroom to the bathroom were steep and awkward. The room was cold, so, even though it was warm outside, I had to turn the heating on in the bedroom and the towel rail in the bathroom to maximum. At night I was cold and had to ask for extra blankets in order to be comfortable. The selection of tea and coffee in the room was basic and there were no extra, thoughtful touches in the bathroom (things like flannels, cotton wool balls, shower caps etc). The staff in general were polite but rather brusque. I thought the room was very poor value for money.
