great breakfast
When the receptionist rang us before we arrived she told us that we had been allocated a room on the ground floor.
On arrival we were directed up a series of staircases to a room that, from the lobby, had a step up to the bedroom, two steps down to the bathroom and yet another step at the bottom of the bath down to the basin and wc.

Lovely old property with fantastic history
I have severe osteoarthritis and felt embarrassed when trying to use stairs as no lift to my first floor room.

It was authentic, gave a rustic feel
Was originally told I could check in at 1pm for free, so I agreed, then kept getting phone calls saying it wasn’t free all of a sudden, then told I had to book directly through them for it to be free or they would charge me £25 to check in earlier…don’t really see the business logic in that.
We misplaced our toothpaste, but they had no disposable dental kits or small toothpastes to purchase (first time I’ve experienced this in a hotel)
Breakfast was included but don’t believe the hotel is worth £225 for a night
