Clayton Hotel Chiswick

As a repeat guest I obviously find this hotel comfortable, convenient and accommodating.

I have said before that the staff in the bar are very laid back and don’t seem very attentive or engaged in their customers. The reason they are there is to serve guests but I always get the feeling I’m interrupting them from something else !

Great location to Gunnersbury tube, clean friendly hotel

Good sized room with the usual facilities. No menu in the room or room service information though. The location is good for my needs hence me booking the venue for my stay.

Eating in the bar area is a little informal. It was quite loud there due to bar customers and the staff seemed overly self important and not paying attention to the dinners there, Bar staff were feigning being busy all the time and not putting the customer first in my view. I felt that I was interrupting them when I approached them to find out how to order food. I would have preferred to have been greeted at the entrance and shown to a table rather than left to find out if there was a table service or if I had to order at the bar. mThe latter was the case on this occasion and I didn't feel that this was appropriate.

Area was fine and close to the transit station. Room was comfortable.

Hotel room door was not always closed after housekeeping staff completed the service. 2 incidents occurred. Left early in the morning and returned late at night. Door was found unlocked and accessible to public all day. Reported to Reception staff. They didn't follow up on it, nor did anything about it. Hotel advertised that there was a refrigerator in the room. False advertising. Not the case, only a beverage cooler. Had medication that needed to be refrigerated 24/7 and needed to be kept within a safe temperature range. I had to keep obtaining a supply of ice in a small ice bucket every day from the bar employee/manager and place it in the beverage cooler so that my expensive liquid medication wouldn't get damaged/spoiled. It was a total nightmare of a week's stay.
