Hundalee House

Hundalee House Impresses the moment you approach. In a beautiful setting, lovely gardens, in a fabulous location outside Jedburgh. House was very tastefully decorated, with some beautiful wallpaper designs, Sheila certainly has an eye for decor. Breakfast was fabulous, too much for me on day 1, totally fresh and really well prepared. We were able to watch the garden wildlife as we had breakfast. I don't think we have ever stayed at a more peaceful place, no sounds at all overnight. We chose to walk into the town, and Sheila kindly allowed us to copy a map she had. This route covers roads, paths, grassy banks, woodland, and is perhaps not suitable for all, especially in the dark. But we took torches, boots etc and gave it a go, only about 15 minutes and we were at Jedburgh castle gaol. There is not a huge amount of nightlife in the town, but we found a couple of bars and they were fine. We were staying in Jedburgh as a base for exploring a few country houses etc. We went to Floors Castle near Kelso, Mellerstain House near Earlston, and Mertoun Gardens just up the road at St Boswells. No problem to get in or out of the town, no road hold ups anywhere, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was lovely coming back to Hundalee at the end of the day. Sheila even let us take apples from her garden. We would certainly love to go back.

There was nothing at all that we did not like. Sheila told us that the water pressure for the shower was a bit low, but this really did not bother us at all.
