Melrose Guest House

Lovely cooked breakfast, great location - good views of Douglas Bay when step out the front door and walk down to the town. Excellent value for money as a single traveller.

Nothing - I stayed in the single room with shared bathroom .. this was absolutely fine, just along the corridor, nice shower - clean bathroom.

Stayed at Melrose Guest House and was really impressed not just with the clean, comfortable room and friendly atmosphere, but with the owner’s exceptional care. I left my hearing aids in the room after checking out, and he went out of his way to track them down and make sure they were safely returned to me. Proper above‑and‑beyond service that you don’t forget. Would happily stay again. the wonderful cooked breakfast, but also with the owner’s exceptional care. I left my hearing aids in my room after checking out, and he went out of his way to track them down and make sure they were safely returned to me by post. Proper above‑and‑beyond service that you don’t forget. Would happily recommend and I will definitely stay again on my next visit to Douglas.

A proper cooked breakfast. But also lots of options. I really enjoyed my stay. A traditional B&B. A lovely host, and fellow guests. Very friendly.

Peter, the host, was friendly and welcoming. He had a lot of local information and was always willing to help. The cooked breakfast was good. It seemed that Peter was running the place singlehandedly!

We would have liked some fruit and yoghurt with our breakfast. Our room was rather cramped. There was an ensuite, but the sink was in a corner of the bedroom with a distant and rather high unlit mirror that made shaving difficult. The toilet space in the small bathroom was very limited. My wife had backache after sleeping in the single bed. The room and its fittings were rather dated and needing some tlc.
