The extensively-refurbished Bridge House Hotel is set in Grasmere, directly across from St Oswalds Church and the graveyard where William Wordsworth rests. The hotel sits in its own mature grounds, with beautiful views overlooking the River Rothay.

The Bridge House hotel is a delightful place to stay, situated in the heart of Grasmere so it’s very easy to explore both the village and the lake without driving anywhere. Our room was perfect from one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in to a very well appointed bathroom (excellent shower as well as a separate bath).
The staff are all so pleasant and helpful and we loved the complimentary cream tea on arrival (excellent scones). It’s also lovely to be able to help yourself to tea and coffee throughout the day.
We thought the idea of a dedicated parking place (sent to you before arrival) was brilliant.
The hotel doesn’t have its own restaurant and we had dinner at the 1769 bar/restaurant at the sister hotel 5 minutes walk through the village - lovely food and atmosphere. It’s worth booking ahead (we did) as it gets very busy.
We loved everything!
