• Located perfectly, especially if you plan on being picked up on group tours. The hotels location allows you to be the last person to be picked up and first to be dropped off; this avoids having to go through the tedious hotel to hotel pick up and drop off process . The noise levels are very minimal from the outside. This is great, as the Old Quarter gets intensely busy in the evenings. • The bed is extremely comfortable and big. •  A bar fridge to store your leftovers; always a plus! • A vintage telephone... so cute! • Friendly staff who help with information about the area and tour suggestions. • I was pleasantly surprised to be offered a free ride to the airport. With Hanoi's busy streets and nooks and crannies, it can be a mammoth task to get a cab... I really couldn't be happier after being offered a free ride to the airport by the Hotel.

•Did not get the room I booked. There are only 2 rooftop rooms on the 6th floor. The room that I'd booked was already occupied by other holiday makers. The rooftop deluxe room with a fireplace and city views was what I paid extra for. The room I got showed no views and had no fireplace... yet I was still charged for that room on my departure date. • Room seemed unprepared. The room door was left opened. The guy who helped me with my bags swifty closed the door and re-opened it with my key tag. The draw hadn't been emptied fully,  I was met with a Durex condom instruction leaflet from the packaging. So, unfortunately, on my first night... all I could think about was people having sex in the bed I was on. The open door and condom leaflet made me wonder if people had moved out shortly before I arrived. This was odd, as I arrived around 8pm. To top it off, the staff member who had come up after my sending a message to the hotel confronted me and asked me why I messaged his manager about condoms in the bin. I had to take my phone out and show him the message i sent... He then laughed it off, saying that he thought it was a condom, but it's just instructions on how to use a condom. Granted, it is funny... but not after a long flight and hour drive from the airport. So yeah, please don't get me wrong, the guy who helped me had a delightful personality. The situation, on the other hand, was urghhh. • The room had no TV remote. I called reception to ask about it. I was told that the remote fell into water and that it's a holiday, so the person who was supposed to fix the remote was not available, but the TV remote would definitely be fixed the next day. Miraculously, after I sent the email about what was going on, the remote was retrieved from another room. • WiFi...

This is a fantastic hotel - we loved staying here both times. The staff are fantastic and are so helpful: they helped us book trains, gave us good tourist/food recommendations, did a clothes wash and returned it on the same day, were flexible with check in and much more! The hotel itself is very stylish and comfortable and in a great location for tourists and we’d definitely come back here! William & Emily

Amazing place to stay in the old quarter, staff super nice, they have vegan options for breakfast, everything was perfect!!we defenitely recommend It!!!

En la habitación hay hervidor de agua que permite hacer algún cafe o te. Buen aire acondicionado y cama muy cómoda.

No se por donde empezar. Es antiguo, mal cuidado , baño muy sucio y los geles de aseos estaban medio gastados. No está insonorizado por lo que a primera hora de la mañana cuando los locales empiezan a hacer su día te despierta el ruido (estaba en la última planta). El WiFi es específico por plantas , por lo que en el lobby o desayuno no tienes Internet. En cuanto a la privacidad, he dejado el cartel de "NO MOLESTAR" en la puerta especialmente para que no me hicieran la habitación, y a pesar de eso han entrado sin aviso ni permiso. El desayuno bastante escaso, y poco flexible ya que pedimos si podríamos bajar 10 minutos antes porque teníamos una excursión y nos han dicho que era imposible, hasta llegaron a reírse. El mobiliario de lado está en muy mal estado y la bañera llena de suciedad que daba asco ducharse. Ahhh y las zapatillas de un solo uno de cortesía estaban ambas manchadas y usadas, un asco.

Great hotel with clean rooms, super nice staff and nice breakfast. Especially the staff was super friendly and helped with everything (sim card, tours etc.). It's in the middle of Old Quarter so expect a lot of traffic, however our room was quiet.

The staff of the Hotel is extremely kind and responsive - they organised a seamless transfer upon arrival, as well as a SIM card for a local phone. They also stored our suitcases during our 3 day trip to Sapa and upon our return early morning they accommodated us back way ahead of the check-in time. Always gentle and going an extra mile to make sure the hotel guests are comfortable.

We've stayed here before, and we keep on coming back to this hotel: 1) Value for money for sure. This 3 star is a haven of soul cleansing beauty and serenity within the stark madness of the Old Quarter. 2) The staff is approachable, accommodating and they speak English well. They have always arranged airport pick up and drop off on time, and this time we required longer stay at short notice. They arranged this and added the bonus of a free room upgrade to the Premium Double with wrap around windows as in their photos. What a joy! We also ended up returning to this hotel after Sa Pa, cancelling another booking in favour of this hotel - they stored our bags in between, making our Sa Pa trip so much lighter. 3) The entire hotel and room interiors are rendered in Gold embossed wallpaper with profiled off-white trimmings, skirtings and embossed cornices, the beds have Royal Baroque headboards with matching dresser and bedside tables. All hotel furniture including the breakfast area matches this style. The antique baroque style telephones in all rooms are delightful. 4) The bathrooms are equally clean and beautiful, with good water pressure. 5) Rooms are well soundproofed against the constant street noise and construction ruckus of the Old Quarter. The beds were very comfortable and very beautiful. Everything in the rooms are just perfect. 6) Every time is like coming home. Only better. The serenity of the rooms carries with you for weeks after. 7) Breakfast is great, you order from a menu with good selection, AND there are additional items on the counter like fruit, juice, bacon, sausages, vegetables and rice. They still do a great Vietnamese coffee - strong, great aroma and served with a choice of condensed milk or regular. 8) They are just around the corner from the many Old Quarter eat streets and Ta Hien, or beer street. Hoan Kiem Lake is a nice evening stroll away, the Old City Gate and Dong Xuan Market is nearby, and so are the sleeper buses to Sa Pa.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating to our requests. The hotel is quite near to all areas of interest and restaurants are just a walk away. It's also in a convenient area for tour pick ups. The beds are large enough and very comfortable to sleep in. They lent us iron and board for our clothes and gave as bottled water and coffee upon request. Beds are cleaned and towels replaced everyday. The hotel really contributed a lot in making our Hanoi vacation a pleasant one.

Maybe just the extra charge for using credit card to pay. I know this is usual for some places. Best to prepare cash although the fee is quite minimal and we were informed we had that option.

The location is central, breakfast was tasty, the personnel is very attentive and kind. Room was spacious and bed was really comfortable.

Bed was very soft. Thought the coffee wasn't great. Small leak in bathroom ceiling. Finishing on the ceiling was very patchy and just a bit unappealing, but not a big problem.

The hotel was really cozy and clean and our bed was huge and very comfortable. We got fresh towels every day. The breakfast was quite tasty. We ended up staying longer than planned and also came back again a second time. The staff was amazing and really helpful with booking our tours to Ha Giang and Cat Ba, many thanks to Julie who gave us some great recommendations and organized everything for us. We could also leave our luggage in the hotel for our trip to Ha Giang. We will definitely come back here when we’re in Hanoi again.

Excellent Hotel and has superb hospitality. The Hanoi Hotel Royal team is awesome and always ready to help. Their airport pick up and drop off were smooth. At times they had gone beyond to help me - I had lost my mobile in a cab during my return from Ho Chi Minh to Hanoi but they coordinated with the cab driver from Hanoi to get my mobile back at the airport - commendable customer service.....really impressed !!! They also helped me to pack my decorative plant for smooth air transfer during my return.....Hanoi Hotel Royal is truly a Home Away from Home!

I had a wonderful time at this hotel. I was traveling alone and for the first time in vietnam. Ruby and Julie took such a good care of me. They were always supportive, always asked me about my stay, told me where to go and what to see. They organised 3 amazing tours for me (Ninh Bình, Sa Pa and Hạ Long bay) and I could always have a room in between my daytrips. One time I even got an upgrade to the best room on the very top with an amazing view. The communication went really well. I could contact them any time if I had any questions or wishes. I also used the laundry service which was good and they provided me a sim card for my whole stay in vietnam. Thank you so much for everything! The hotel location is perfect. Right on the border to the old town but still in a more or less quiet area compared to other hotels in the same neighborhood. I am very happy that I picked this hotel and I highly reccomend it to anyone who is visiting hanoi!
