YAYS Amsterdam Maritime by Numa

The building is beautiful, the location very convenient (lots of space in front for a taxi to park, wide pavement to walk on, it is a 20-30 minutes walk to the city centre which was fine by us, a supermarket close by, area quiet during the night), the apartment well equipped, the staff helpful. Upon asking a member of staff, I got a washing tablet to do my laundry which was great. As the signs in the kitchen tell you, the smoke alarm is very sensitive so open the windows and don't burn anything, otherwise the alarm will go off and the entire building will be evacuated.

The apartment could have been cleaner upon our arrival (I am guessing the high turnover might be the reason); during heavy rain there was a leak near the roof windows; the bathroom is poorly ventilated (or not ventilated at all, as it has no windows and is an add-on cubicle inside the open-space apartment) making the floor and wall tiles wet all the time. Also, there is no place to dry towels (and they will not dry in the humid bathroom) - a drying rack would be very useful in this situation.

La TV non dà la possibilità di mettere i sottotitoli ai programmi in altre lingue oltre all'olandese, il che rendeva l'uso della TV impossibile. La doccia non aveva una struttura funzionale per lo scolo dell'acqua perché quando facevi la doccia si bagnava ovunque essendo tutto allo stesso livello. Potrebbero inoltre aggiungere più spiegazioni per l'uso degli elettrodomestici presenti.

We had a very pleasant stay. The accommodation was comfortable, clean, and well-located, making it easy to explore the city. Everything went smoothly. A great base for visiting Amsterdam!

Great location just on the edge of a busy city centre.

The room was very dirty. Had emailed ahead of our stay due to some concerning reviews I had seen about bed bugs and other pests and received a response stating that this issue was addressed and rooms are well prepared ahead of stays. We did not see any bed bugs but due to the dirtiness of the room I am glad we packed plastic sealable bags for our luggage. The mattress and skirting boards near the bed were especially dirty and the walls were pretty filthy. The bathroom also had very poor plumbing and smelt quite off as soon as we arrived. There were also a lot of dead bugs in the room. It was certainly convenient (location, lockers, very easy check in) but we will never stay with Numa again.
