the host was available despite the late hour, and he went out of his way to ensure I was comfortable after a horrific day of delays, disruptions and uncertainty.

I lost my connection and needed to find a place to spend the night in Amsterdam. Wim's Place is very close to the airport (in Hoofddorp), and Wim is extremely helpful. It's really only a couple of rooms in his house, but it's clean and in a quite neighborhood. It saved my day as there were hardly any rooms left in Amsterdam, however the price of EUR 265 was relatively steep for what you get (no breakfast included). But again: I couldn't ask for more help when I was in trouble late at night....
