An amazing spot, a Boutique Hotel with a wonderful view to Matterhorn!
We stayed for two nights in a room with a big double bed and a bunk bed couchette (family of four).
Alpenlodge is a very well run hotel. It is located on the hill (on your left from the train line) just in the entrance to Zermatt. There
is a steep uphill road to the hotel. But from train station a taxi will be waiting for you to transfer all luggage and people to the hotel without extra charge (the same stands for when you leave the hotel to the train station).
The hotel is very cosy, with a small but beautiful veranda with excellent view to Matterhorn. Inside the restaurant with the same amazing view and also the area for breakfast. A very modern, cozy and well designed living room waits you for a drink and relax, just next to the dining room.
The rooms are spacious, modern, cozy with well designed furniture and all the amenities. We had a balcony with view to Matterhorn and a sofa to relax (also chairs and table).
The personnel were very friendly, very helpful and very willing to provide you with all the information you might need for Zermatt. They were all great and I can only thank them for the excellent experience we had during our stay.
I can confidently say that we will be back!!!
Everything was perfect!!!
If I had to say something that I didn't like, that would be that there was no refrigerator in the room (although you won't be needing one as it's chill outside in the night and the tap water in Zermatt is drinkable and crystal cold) and the ascent (with high inclination) to the hotel from Zermatt 's center, in the early afternoon in a hot sunny day. But all the other times the way to and from Zermatt' s center was just fun. An absolutely delightful walk!

i like everything during our stay. It was perfect even time the weather is not good. Still youll love to stay the whole day. I like the snacks they serve in the afternoon and the breakfast is good as well.

We had a beautiful room with a fantastic view of the Matterhorn! The furnishings were stylish and comfortable.
It’s a bit of a trek up to get to, but you are in the mountains after all. 🙂

I wish it would've been clearer that there was a hotel shuttle from the train station. I walked up the hill, which was okay, but it would've been great if I had been reminded that service was available!

The view from our room balcony was just breathtaking. 15 min walk from the Train Station, but its okey because we really enjoyed the scenery going to and from the hotel. Breakfast was sufficient. We stayed in Matterhorn room at the 2nd floor and it was just BEAUTIFUL. The furniture in the hotel were done by the owners themselves, beautifully done. Martin and Wife were very friendly and hospitable. We appreciated the free taxi ride from and to the Train Station during arrival and departure.

Doesn’t feel like a hotel at all. You feel at home here 😍. If you are not from Switzerland/used to the incredible views.. you are in for suuchhh a treat in every way. AlpenLodge resides within the heart of it all, and you’re in for an experience you won’t forget! If you haven’t gone skiing before.. THIS is the place!!
I mean nothing really. If I HAVE to say something, I’d make you aware of the fact that breakfast, while delicious, does not supply you with meats you might be wanting such as bacon or sausage.

The view from my room is spectacular. I was able to admire the sunrise with the Matterhorn throughout my stay. I think the angle is the same as the 'Zermatt Matterhorn Viewpoint'. The breakfast was a typical European breakfast with fresh fruits served. You can also enjoy the Matterhorn while you have breakfast at the dining area. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. The location is a bit far from the main train station but it's close to the train station to Sunnega and taxi rides are included if you stay for at least 2 nights. The walk isn't that far or steep, it takes around 15 minutes to the city centre with a slow-paced walk.
There is basically nothing I do not like about this hotel. It was marvelous.

The view was wonderful. The room is large and very cozy. The staffs were very friendly.
**Remember to locate the white sheep statue for the hotel phone booth!**
The location is not 600m from station. Don't try to walk up with your luggage. I only found out there was a phone booth to call up hotels at Zermatt train station. Other than that, the stay was splendid.

We get free upgrade for free!! The receptionist we met (sorry I can’t remember her name) let us feel that she wants to help us to familiar ourselves in Zermatt. I am so grateful that we’ve met her! The room itself is extremely comfortable and the room facilities are awesome! 8 minutes walk to the city center which is very convenient.

The room is super ! even nicer than the photo . there’s ourselves balcony with the Matterhorn view.
The employees are nice ! But only the first day chef of the kitchen wasn’t very patient with customers.

This property is just so beautiful! It’s really cosy and the decor is lovely. My room had an amazing view of the Matterhorn. The breakfast was lovely and the staff were so welcoming and helpful. There is a transfer to and from the train station included if you stay two nights or more. Its about a 10 minute walk to the centre of Zermatt.
Its a fairly steep hill up to the property, it was fine for me but if you have mobility issues it might be a challenge.

Not just a plain hotel box room. We had a loft room which made it special and fun the for the kids. View of the Matterhorn was nice from the room and very nice from the balcony. Room was in good shape and well built. Breakfast was nice. Staff was nice.
Not in the center of town was both good and bad. It was nice and quiet but was a walk uphill. However the location resulted in some great views of the Matterhorn better than downtown. Sometimes we walked, sometimes taxi.

Waking up to the view of Matterhorn from our room was such a treat. Breakfast was homely and hearty, and the staff had been exceptionally helpful. Despite being far from the centre, the view and service made up for it. Special thanks to Deborah, Constance, Maria and Petra who made the stay so enjoyable.
Heading back might be an issue after a long day of hiking. But there is a taxi voucher that allows you to take the taxi back to the lodge with a discounted price.
Blinds in the toilet do not completely block out, insufficient privacy.

A perfect location, a short taxi ride or walk from the train station & plenty of restaurants and bars near-by. Very spacious room with a beautiful view from the balcony. Spotless room!
I didn't like that I only spent a week here, I cannot fault the hotel at all. The staff were very helpful, the room was as presented on the website and I will be back again.
