Beautiful surroundings, a perfect location near the beach and incredibly friendly staff.

We really enjoyed our stay. One thing that could make the experience even better would be a greater variety of restaurants and food options within the resort.

The fact that you couldn’t get a free glass of water with your dinner is absurd. At breakfast you can get all kinds of drinks including champagne, they also deliver 2 bottles of water every day to your room, yet for dinner you have to pay for your water. We ended up bringing the water from our room to dinner

The front desk and guest relations staff were very nice. The were always smiling and did their best to help in every situation. The staff in the breakfast room were very pleasant and generally very helpful. The valet, when present, was also very nice and helpful. The breakfast buffet was very nice and offered a large selection. The location was acceptable, but the driving distance to the scenic beaches of Albufeira was double the distance of what it would have been, had we stayed in Albufeira as we always had during the previous 14 years.

My wife and I felt disappointed, almost cheated. We booked and paid for what was marketed as a 5-Star hotel, but we quickly discovered that it was not, at least not by international standards. International standards award stars based on both the facilities and the service. The facilities were very nice in most areas, but not even really 4-Star facilities. In our room, just to cite an example, the bidet was broken, missing the nozzle to make it functional. One lamp did not work during the entire one-week stay. This would never happen in a 4-Star hotel. Our largest disappointment, however, was with the service. On the first morning of our stay, we had to wait in line to enter the breakfast room; these 5 minutes felt like an eternity. The room was 50-66% empty, but the person at the door had instructions to walk each guest to their table, and it caused a constant waiting line! My complaint to the duty manager following this had no effect on the days after that, and there were lines each day during our stay. The hotel manager never approached me following this to ask me if things had improved, preferring instead to avoid contact with a guest who complained. The goal? Who knows? In order to make you feel "special" during 20 seconds, you had to wait in line for 5 minutes. On one occasion, I was served coffee from a machine that had run out of coffee grounds. On two occasions, I was served coffee with normal milk rather than the almond milk I asked for. The valet was often absent when we returned to the hotel, and parking the car in front of the hotel resulted in a note on my car telling me to park it myself, outside the hotel if necessary! In these areas, the service was that of a 2- or 3-Star hotel, at best. At the swimming pool, a bar was available, but no service at the chairs. The beach bar was not a bar and had no drinks.
