Belleek Castle, Ballina

This is a beautiful hotel . Very comfortable , beautiful rooms . The breakfast was outstanding . There is going to be a sauna added to the hotel which will be wonderful in the magnificent surroundings . Highly recommended .

There was nothing not to dislike

The castle is awesome. Just like I imagined from watching old movies. The restaurant met all of our expectations. We had the scallops appetizer, the steak on a sword and some very good desserts. The next morning we went to breakfast, and I could not finish my full Irish breakfast. The grounds around the castle are well kept and very photogenic.

We liked everything.

The atmosphere, the huge beautiful rooms, the dinner and bar ambiance. Thought being escorted to dinner was a nice touch. Breakfast was amazing

My only suggestion would be to remove the fake flowers they have around the castle. Not necessary.

The atmosphere of the old castle is wonderful — fireplaces, the smell of burning wood, beautiful wooden interiors and a genuine sense of history. The receptionist was extremely welcoming, as was the waiter who looked after us at breakfast. There is also a large and convenient car park. Breakfast was quite good, although there is no buffet.

Unfortunately, the condition and facilities of the room did not live up to expectations. There is laminate flooring in the bathroom, which is clearly unsuitable for a wet area and has already started to swell from moisture. The water pressure in the shower was weak, the grout between the bathroom tiles was already crumbling in places, and there was no toilet brush. The room also lacked some basic amenities that I would expect from a hotel of this level: no slippers and no coffee machine, while the bathrobes were old and visibly worn from repeated washing. There are also no EV charging facilities, despite the large car park. One further point concerns The Library Restaurant. The Michelin-related signage may give guests the impression that the restaurant is currently recognised by the Michelin Guide. However, The Library Restaurant at Belleek Castle is not currently listed in the Michelin Guide. It was previously included in the Guide, but that listing ended in October 2019. I think this should be presented more clearly to guests.
