Karma Resort

Karma Resort is a lovely boutique hotel with a lot of potential. We enjoyed our stay overall, although I feel there are still a few areas that need some improvement for the hotel to fully live up to that potential. In general, it’s a very pleasant place for a short stay in Koh Samui. Breakfast was good, although a little repetitive. You can choose from several dishes from the à la carte menu, which works perfectly well for a few days, but could become quite monotonous during a longer stay. Breakfast includes juice (the fresh orange juice was delicious!), coffee, fruit and one selected dish. Anything additional is charged separately. This is not a major issue, but when breakfast is included in the room rate, having to pay extra for additional breakfast items feels a little unnecessary. The biggest disappointment was the air conditioning in our room, which was not working when we arrived. In my opinion, a guest should be able to expect that the room and its essential facilities are checked before check-in, rather than having technical issues discovered and repaired after arrival. We were told there was an issue with the refrigerant. Unfortunately, this resulted in us spending the first night without proper air conditioning, which in Koh Samui is definitely not ideal. As compensation, we were offered one complimentary drink each. While the gesture was appreciated, after spending a night without air conditioning, it felt rather inadequate considering the inconvenience. Apart from that, the location is good, the hotel itself is attractive and has a nice boutique atmosphere. There was nothing seriously wrong with our stay, but equally there wasn’t quite a “wow” factor. Overall, Karma Resort is a nice and enjoyable place to spend a few days. With a little more attention to maintenance, room preparation and some details of the guest experience, it could become a really great boutique hotel.

Beautiful rooms, fantastic food at the restaurant, lovely cocktails - very relaxing. Always able to get a sunbed or beanbag and lots of options to shelter from the sun if needed. Great being able to order breakfast to the room, and fresh water replenished daily.

It was a little further from the main part of town than I expected and not a very picturesque walk. A few large families dominated the small pool area, but the parents were pretty good at policing it.

The property is beautiful, the photographs do not do it full justice… our 2 bed villa was super clean and comfortable; the pool was fantastic (especially for our 2 year old); the food at the restaurant was amazing and the morning breakfast was super generous (we preferred to have this in our villa)! But the star of the show was the staff, the people who make Karma what it is… from reception, to pool, to restaurant and to cleaning staff everyone was fabulous and nothing was ever too much trouble!
