Spa Hotel Iris

Very clean - we had an air conditioned room with balcony on the renovated and quiet south side that was large and modern. The spa facilities were better than expected and also very clean. The breakfast staff did a great job keeping the area stocked and clean.

No complimentary water in the rooms or at reception... Not one staff member was able to speak or understand English. Not at reception, not the nurse you book treatments with and not the masseuse. Only Czech, Russian or German. Their manner is quite rude. We had left a do not disturb sign on our door, they still knocked. We booked massages and were given times. 30 minutes beforehand the masseuse knocked on our door (see above) to insist we needed to come earlier because he had to leave early. The massage was also not very relaxing. He had the nerve to harass my husband again by phone to come even earlier than the new early time, as well. The spa was not relaxing - ruined by guests who didn't seem to understand they shouldn't allow their children to scream at the top of their lungs and dive bomb the pool. The adults themselves were no better, loudly talking the whole time, wearing outdoor shoes in the spa (and bare feet around the rest of the hotel), dumping their bags around the spa itself instead of in the provided lockers. Staff are not checking. There was a lot of noise from the other rooms that was clearly audible so rooms are not soundproofed.

Senza ombra di dubbio, l’area benessere con le piscine è il punto forte: molto pulita e ben curata. Le saune, seppur piccole, sono piacevoli, e l’idromassaggio caldo è una vera coccola. La camera, pur essendo standard, era molto pulita e dotata di un bel bagno.

Alcuni aspetti potrebbero essere migliorati: i cuscini erano molto scomodi, quasi privi di imbottitura, e in camera non era disponibile un’alternativa. Anche il letto non risultava particolarmente confortevole. Sarebbe utile trovare in stanza almeno un bollitore con del tè e magari una bottiglia d’acqua di cortesia. L’area relax della spa è davvero piccola, con soli quattro lettini; se altri ospiti li occupano a lungo (come è accaduto), diventa impossibile godersi lo spazio e non si sa dove sedersi. A colazione abbiamo avuto un inconveniente spiacevole (e una maggiore scelta vegana sarebbe auspicabile): mentre mangiavamo i cereali, abbiamo trovato al loro interno un pezzo di plastica. Infine, non ci è stato comunicato per tempo che i massaggi e gli altri trattamenti andavano prenotati prima del weekend. Essendo presenti proprio nel fine settimana, non abbiamo potuto usufruire dei vari servizi, che immaginiamo comunque di ottima qualità.

No parking and it’s a long way to park the car.

Spa facilities, although small, never felt crowded. I was grateful for that. The entire hotel smelt lovely and felt really clean. A parking space was reserved for me, as requested. I appreciated that. The location was superb for walking into town and to local amenities. Mini fridge in the room was great. Good storage space. Bathroom beautiful and modern. Bed was so comfortable. Reception staff provided us with a fan when we found the room too hot. Some reception staff were excellent and very accommodating - the 2 gentlemen I met were great, a young man during the day and an older gentleman during the night shift.

The breakfast was just ok. My partner didn't enjoy it at all and didn't bother to come down to eat the 2nd morning. I found the hot food options quite poor - bad quality meat and overcooked cold eggs. I expected a little better from a 4 star - this was more 3 star. But the breakfast staff themselves were very nice and welcoming and friendly. Although my massage therapist was a very nice person, €90 for an hour of treatments is extortionate and I regret booking it. I would much more recommend walking 15 minutes to town and paying 1/3 of that price for the amazing experience of a Thai massage. I regret paying this much during my holdiay. Not good value for money. To make the most of my experience, I had planned to use the sauna and swim to relax after paying so much money. Sadly, the sauna didn't open until 16:00 and we were checking out that morning. That was a disappointment. The Check out experience was very poor. We got a phonecall to our room from reception at 11.10, saying checkout was at 11, despite a previous arrangement with the hotel for our checkout to be 12. The receptionist didn't care about this prior agreement that I had in writing, and repeated that checkout is now. I found the whole experience at checkout with the red haired mature staff member a little degrading, with the staff member making various phone calls in my presence to other staff to collaborate what was used in the minibar and that we had actually vacated the room, multiple times. She didn't even acknowledge my goodbye as we were leaving. Just a bit uncomfortable and left a bad taste. Decor in the room was a little dated. It definitely felt like a 3 star. No tea/coffee making facilities. The pillows were not very comfortable and the 4 of them were not dressed, since I pulled 2 out of the wardrobe.
