Tolle Lage und der Preis war spitze. Die Zimmer sind sauber, ohne großen schnickschnack. Alles in allem für eine Nacht oder übers Wochenende passend.
Der Frühstücks Raum ist sehr klein, daher muss man sich darauf einstellen auch mal zu warten. Bzw. wir als 9er Gruppe konnten nicht alle gemeinsam frühstücken...

Staff was friendly.
Location was great as far as it was walkable to town. Street was nosy and airplanes were flying over the area starting at 5:00 in the morning.

Friendly staff. Perfect location near Dusseldorf airport (thus some flight noise), if you arrive late or leave early by the plane.
There was no air conditioning. Some noise from arriving planes was heard in the room.

Hotel is in a residential area and doesn't have many rooms, so is reasonably quiet. Very spacious room and bathroom.
Good, popular restaurant. Best to reserve a table.
Parking is limited with spaces at both the back and front of hotel
Wifi dropped out during the evening. Not great for the business traveller or anyone wanting to stream content.
The main part of the room could have been better lit. There are two bedside led and a dim ceiling light. Real shame as the room is great, but spoilt by cheap, industrial style lighting. The lighting around the desk and and the bathroom were excellent.

Booked just an hour or two before arrival but the room was clean and tidy. It's also very quite, bed was very comfortable so- everything for good night sleep. Breakfast was really nice and the staff very polite.
Free parking is a big plus.
Check in was quick and easy.
I liked everything.
Service the hotel provides is great.
Definitely would book again.

Lovely hotel the staff are very friendly can't do enough for you. The food in the restaurant and for breakfast is excellent. This is my second visit and l definitely stay here again.

We have stayed at the Schmactenburg several times; this is our favorite hotel in Essen. Our dear friend lives in Essen and the hotel is literally 90 seconds from our friend's flat! The staff is amazing--Hielike (sp?) and the rest of the staff are both friendly and helpful. We have eaten at the restaurant twice and each time the food has been amazing!!! Our compliments to the chefs each time! The hotel has an old time feel and comfort with updated rooms and amenities! Can't imagine staying anywhere else in Essen!!!

The restaurant was excellent food was lovely. The staff were very helpful they even translated the menu for us.
The room was very comfortable.
The breakfast was disappointing considering how good the meals were in the restaurant.

I love the spacious bathroom. And the free parking space
I think the management of the hotel should put a little touch on the reception.. Also the standby light of the TV in the bedroom is too bright after you put all the light in the room off (too disturbing)

A very nice hotel with personal touch. The people were very friendly and caring.
I will come back if I have the chance. The room was clean and had a very good bed.
The location was ok, but I was in traffic jam quite often in the morning. I was heading to Messe Essen for an exhibition and traffic jam was not ideal.
