The corner of colonial chic and silence in the very noisy city of Kandy. The interior features a lot of precious wood and charming antique elements, and the courtyard is built like a patio. The rooms are clean, cool and stylish. Coconuts as a welcome drink. The most amazing thing is that the hotel has its own museum! With many photographs, postcards, posters. There is an interesting photo of the hotel facade taken in 1918.

The restaurant did not have 80% of the menu items

Hotel de charme très romantique. L'impression de remonter le temps dans ce cadre magnifique avec des photos objets et meubles d'époque avec le confort actuel. Lit très confortable, propreté poussée à l'extrême, excellent restaurant. Personnel très attentionné. Patio intérieur agréable pour dîner. Très bon emplacement au calme à 10 mn à pieds du lac et Temple de la dent de bouddha. Et du centre ville. Notre train a eu 4hde retard, j'ai prévenu l'hotel nous sommes arrivés à 23h30 et avons eu droit à un excellent dîner servi avec le sourire alors que le restaurant ferme à 23h.

Historical building close to main sites, charming courtyard (can get noisy as this is one of few places with alcohol in Kandy). The waitresses in the restaurant were very friendly and attentive.

While standards for a historic building like this, have to be adjusted, rooms have to be free from mould. Using excessive amounts of incense is not a solution. We had wet carpets, a strong mouldy smell and a mouldy trash bin (white fluffy fungus) in our room, no window could be opened. there is not enough ventilation. After the first night (and discovering the bin) we switched for another room, which was better, but also not entirely free from moisture. The housekeeping should have spotted this.

Beautifully restored colonial building and great location

Our booking of the suite was not honoured. We were told it had been double booked and we could have it for the second night. We then got moved into a room the same as our previous night and were told firstly that this was the suite then that didn’t have a suite! Both turned out to be lies as there had been some issue on booking.com and the one suite had been booked several times. The only compensation they offered despite the difference in price was the removal of the restaurant bill (3 beers and a tea!) but as we had to pay on arrival it was harder to dispute. Totally unacceptable and extremely badly handled by their manager. The rooms are very dark with windows which don’t open. Apparently the suite had a balcony which we never saw! It also had very bad WiFi in the rooms you had to sit in the doorway.

Excellent heritage property, bang in the middle of old town Kandy with all sights within walking distance. A lot of restaurants around, covering most cuisines. The hotel is in the middle of town so you get the local feel and ye the rooms are placed at the back to avoid most noise. The property has an excellent bar...duh in the name also with a perfect setting in an internal courtyard. Breakfast has several optional items to order - my cheese omlette and bacon was perfecctt ! All in all, a great place to enjoy Kandy

Wifi..although I did get a personal modem but the speed was nothing great...

O check in apesar da oferta de 2 águas de coco, não informaram sequer como se trancava o quarto, como tem portadas foi preciso perder algum tempo para perceber, não deram a passe do Wi-Fi, tive de pedir durante o jantar no restaurante e levaram o meu telemóvel para colocar a passe. Wi-Fi só funciona no espaço comum, no quarto não apanhava. Pequeno almoço bom, mas poderia ser tradicional.

We loved the fact that it was in the town centre.

The mosquito nets were open when we arrived so by the time we closed them, we had lots of mosquitoes inside…

location, beautiful colonial decor, beautiful rooms with character, breakfast was amazing!

The suite is not as described in booking.com The description said 2 large double beds and 2 sofa beds in the living room. we booked this for 3 adults and 2 kids but when we arrived the room only had 2 large beds, no sofa beds. After a lot of back and forth with the hotel, they provided us with another room. Don’t let this stop you from booking this hotel, it’s beautiful and staff were very quick to fix the situation
