I reached the Royal Oak quite late after a long journey and the kitchen had closed but the staff were still able to ensure I didn't go hungry. Impromptu or not, the meal was very tasty.
Nothing to criticise at all.

A lovely comfortable room. Pub was very nice and served a very tasty breakfast and dinner .

Conveniently location on route to Scotland.
Some details advertised weren’t delivered or had to be requested. Being charged an extra fee for our dog even though we already booked and paid for a dog-friendly room - and this was confirmed prior. It was also just added to our dinner bill without a word so we had to ask. We also didn’t get the dog-welcome pack which wasn’t a deal breaker for us but is another example of detail they ought to be on top of - especially if they’re going to promote it.
