Staff were helpful and friendly

The hotel is tired and lacks atmosphere. The bar and restaurant are extremely over priced and would suggest a short walk or a cheap grab taxi to town to experience real Sandakan

The location is great. Very close to nature, so in the mornings you hear the forrest wake up. Easy 20 / 25 mins walk into town, more of hike back as uphill but ok if you take your time via the heritage walk 100 steps and visit the various sites on the way, e.g the English cafe. Also could take a grab taxi. If you want more lux stay somewhere in town, if you want to be in town then the same. We had a hotel with a great balcony, worth paying for. The cafe/bar is a nice place for food and drink and ice cream.

Nice hotel, located around a 20-minute taxi ride from the airport. The hotel is also ideally located for holidaymakers visiting Sepilok to see the sun bears and orangutan conservation centres, which are around a 30-minute taxi ride away. Don’t be put off by the distance. A Grab taxi from the hotel to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre cost just RM32 (around £5.92). The hotel staff were polite and welcoming. Our room was comfortable and clean, with air conditioning and comfortable beds. There was also no outside noise, which made for a good night’s sleep. The evening meals in the hotel were reasonably priced and good value. The menu isn’t extensive but offers both Malaysian and European options. Breakfast is buffet-style, with several choices available. The pool is lovely, and the kids really enjoyed it. Pool towels are provided. The staff can also arrange tours and trips from reception. If you’re visiting the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, remember to take cash, as card payments are not accepted. There is a cash machine available in the hotel reception, which was very useful as there is no cash machine near the Rehabilitation Centre. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend the hotel.

Breakfast very limited not much variety. Event on site whilst we were staying meant busy, noisy and spaces not all useable for guests.
