Unforgettable experience! Felt like visiting friends! Most amazing place at the west coast!

Elisabeth and Selwyn are sharing their home with their guests. It’s not a hotel or just an accommodation it’s feels like being at home of a good friend! They offered a snack and a drink for sundowner and joined us for a talk. They served us excellent dinner. The best fish and chips we had so far! And Selwyn took us on a ride with his amphibious craft to the beach in order to enjoy the sunset. It was sooo much fun! And we never expected such a beautiful place. One of the most untouched, wild, loving and impressing places in NZ. Thanks to Elisabeth and Selwyn it was an unforgettable stay! Unfortunately we had to leave after one night. If you can stay at least for 2 nights!

We highly recommend Awatuna to everyone for the relaxed atmosphere, scenery and the very friendliness of the hosts

Everything and everyone!!! Elizabeth met us at the door with a great welcome. They grow everything on the property so all the food is very fresh. We relaxed on the lawn with canapés & drinks looking over the Tasman Sea. Selwyn took us down to the beach on his amphibious “thingy” to watch the sunset… spectacular!!

Lovely

Elizabeth and Selwyn were wonderful hosts. Food was delicious more so because everything was homemade and cooked by Elizabeth. We loved the onshore tour on Radar driven by Selwyn with some NZ history thrown in. Thank you for your hospitality. X

Traumhafter Aufenthalt in der Awatuna Sunset Lodge

Das gesamte Ambiente der Lodge ist außergewöhnlich! Es gibt nur 3 Zinmer, die vermietet werden und dadurch ist der Kontakt zu den Gastgebern Elizabeth und Selwyn sehr persönlich Das Frühstück und das von uns zusätzlich gebuchte Dinner waren großartig! Jeder Wunsch wurde erfüllt, die Speisen waren größtenteils selbst hergestellt und absolut frisch und lecker zubereitet. Gegen 18 00 Uhr gab es on the top einen kostenlosen Snack nebst Getränk und netten Gesprächen. Ganz besonders war auch das kostenlose Angebot mit einem Amphibienfahrzeug am Strand entlang zu fahren. Selwyn war der Fahrer , erklärte Flora und Fauna und driftete mit uns durch den Sand, einfach klasse!!! Den Sonnenuntergang konnten wir dann anschließend alleine genießen und wurden wieder abgeholt. Danke für die tolle Zeit!!!

Superb

Elizabeth and Selwyn were wonderful hosts and made us feel very comfortable. We explored the garden and the beach in Selwyn's argo, which was great fun! We loved chatting to Elizabeth and Selwyn about our trip and their experiences while having happy hour. The food was simply incredible and so delicious. Elizabeth is a wonderful cook! Our view out our room was the beach and it was wonderful to watch the sun set over the water. It was amazing and we took some great photo's. I also loved looking at the sky and seeing so many stars. Highly recommend this stay.

Wonderful hosts

Selwyn and Elizabeth were amazing hosts. They had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable.. Cream for my wife's Americano. Soy for my adult son. The Argo ride for me. Great breakfast and presentation. Would highly recommend.

Warm N Cosy

Elizabeth and Selwyn welcome us when we arrived. Selwyn offered to bring us on a ride to the beach area to catch the sunset. The dinner prepared by Elizabeth was really nicely nice. Given a chance, we will be back again for sure.

Brilliant hospitality and beautiful location

Beautiful location overlooking the beach. Very comfortable. Fantastic hospitality from Elizabeth and Selwyn; they were were the most gracious and attentive hosts. Great food - dinners and breakfasts were superb. Easy parking. Short drive to Hokitika. Excellent all round.

A perfect stay on the West Coast

Located on the beach with fantastic sunset views. Super comfortable beds. Incredible hospitality from Elizabeth and Selwyn The best cooked breakfast in New Zealand, bar none. The pre-dinner amphibious buggy beach trip with Selwyn- awesome!

Exceptional

The place is spectacular, as are the host and hostess. Out of all of the locations we have stayed while in New Zealand, this has by far been the best. Elizabeth and Selwyn welcome you onto their home with open arms. The only thing better than the beautiful grounds is Elizabeth's cooking. We are definitely staying here again and would recommend this place to anyone going to the west side of the island.

resourcing at all levels: the calm, the sea, the food and the heartwarming owners!

the location is simply fantastic: isolated and looking at the sea. A quick walk through the creek will get you wet and ready to enjoy the sea waves, with no one else in sight (that is a loooong beach). the hot tub will keep you warm afterwards. the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel pampered.

A must stay at this place - stunning

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay, Elizabeth and Selwyn, from the moment we arrived your hospitality was out of the box. Lovely happy hour drinks and nibbles, Elizabeth cooked a beautiful dinner, and we finished off the night with a lovely spa overlooking the ocean - perfect!! Breakfast the next morning was amazing. Keep up the great work you have the recipe right in hospitality.

Beautiful property on the beach.

Beautiful location with sea views, room was spacious and super clean and the bed was very comfortable. The hosts, Elizabeth and Selwyn, were so warm and welcoming, and provided drinks and snacks with other guests before a delicious dinner prepared by Elizabeth.

A really relaxing stay. if only we had had more time there!

The Lodge is beautifully positioned overlooking the Tasman Sea just across the garden and beach. The rooms were very comfortable and spotless, meals (dinner and breakfast) lovely and our hosts, Elizabeth and Selwyn more welcoming than anyone could hope for, including joining us for pre-dinner drinks and nibbles. The spa pool was great, too.

It would have been great if it had rained less and the sun had shone more.

Beautiful lodge, incomparable hosts .

Awatuna Sunset lodge is situated next to the beach and it’s aura was tantalizing even though we arrived in the midst of a raging storm. The warmth & care of Elizabeth & Selwyn more than made up for the cold, wet weather . We also enjoyed one of the most delicious meals whipped up by Elizabeth and shared many memorable stories in our short stay with them.

Our stay was way too short as we had a hectic schedule to fulfill . But we plan to stay longer in this wonderful place the next time we visit Hokitika

A Home away from Home, great location, fabulous company, excellent conversation……so relaxing!

Location…….it is superb! Facilities; lacks for nothing and the sleeping arrangements guarantied a great nights sleep. . Our Hosts, Elizabeth and Selwyn, were exceptional; welcoming, informative; making us feel more like family than guests. Elizabeth’s culinary abilities are to be admired, and consumed, we enjoyed dinner on both evenings, beautifully served by Selwyn. Our stay was too short…

The best stay ever!

No words can't describe it! It's perfect! Too perfect to be true! You don’t want miss this place! Elizabeth and her husband are very kind and considerate. Elizabeth’s cooking is amazing! 7 stars service! The rooms are impeccable, the view is beautiful to tears! I love it here, and I'll be back!！

It is hard to find the right words to describe this amazing place. Breakfast and food was exceptional. Elizabeth and Selwyn were the most amazing hosts. Everything was just suburb. I highly recommend Awatune Lodge and will most definitely be returning.
