This hotel is located just a 5-minute drive from the Sandakan Airport and it costs us only MYR 5 (ringgit) by Grab taxi to/from the airport. It is also very close to a number of places of interests including the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary, Sandakan Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC), Sandakan Prisoner of War Memorial and Sandakan city centre. The onsite restaurant served up nice food at a very decent price if you are not looking for something too fancy. The staff were very helpful, especially in helping us to locate/contact a local tour operator because the number given by the Viator tour company was no longer in operations and the local people did not speak too much English.

The place is a bit old and the facilities appeared lacking good maintenance and cleaning, although still in good working conditions. The TV has only one English channel. Considering the condition of the hotel (a big rundown), this hotel is much dearer than the other hotels in other parts of East Malaysia where we had stayed during the same trip, including Kota Kinabalu, Kuching and Sibu.
