The host and her supporting team personifies what it means to be hospitable, professional, caring, efficient and fully service orientated. This beautiful value proposition unfolded fully in our Iast stay over en route to Pretoria after road tripping a solid 6000 kms across all the best of the Garden Route, Wine Route, West Coast and the Swartland into the proverbial hidden gem that gently but firmly turned us into raving fans. The grounds, rooms, dining room, gift shop were tastefully and lovingly decorated and equipped with do much forethought that we wanted for nothing, from the firm, medium to soft pillows, the mosquito nets, candles, fragrant candles, perfumed diffusers, bath and shower options to the fully stocked tea and coffee options to the complimentary sherry. The scented walk to the dining room with all t he exquisite little practical and arty touches laid the scene to an intimate dining room with soft lighting and hearty, tasty and farm to table fresh food that could not number outdone by any of the rivals on our extensive trip. The only thing that was even better than our food was the pleasant, friendly yet highly efficient service by our waitress and the kindred spirit accomoanying playlist, simply superb. The town itself and what's on offer within 20 to 100 metres was more than we imagined. There was a gift, antiquity, and bookshop owned by Ian that was filled with all sorts of South African treasures, old and new. Even if we did spend a few days longer, it would not be enough to discover it all. The museum and Theatre is cared for by a master curator? Joha Tolken that selflessly shared many interesting facts, memorable stories and local folklore. You must try the chicken and Peppadew pizza (and the chocolate cake!). It was a most comfortable stay, and the staff were utterly warm and welcoming.
