Embleton Spa Hotel & Apartments

The location was easy to get to, lovely views. We only ventured in the car, so unsure what the surrounding area like. But not much around. The hotel did include a good guide in the room of everything needed to know. Kitchen : Bedroom area in room fine and comfortable. Staff friendly & polite. Breakfast was good, had to order night before if having cooked breakfast. Ate once in the restaurant in the evening, food very good. Hotel quite quaint and cosy.

Sadly it is advertised as a 4* spa. One of the main reasons booked, was because it had a pool and gym. The gym was okay, just appeared very cramped. No areas for stretching, warming up or down. The pool was very disappointing. The water was murky, was used as a swimming school, so access was very limited. The jacuzzi was outside and don’t believe in use. No one at pool area to ask. The steam room was actually a sauna, very different… The whole area was like a public well used pool. Did not look particularly clean. Needed a complete revamp and TLC . Very misleading to advertise as a spa. Not comfortable or inviting or any staff. The TV in rooms need upgrading to Smart TV’s, to match what you would expect for a 4* hotel.

Hot tub area needs updating. It could be a beautiful outdoor area with a little more investment.

No guest access to the pool between 10am and 6pm, this is very much not a spa resort as advertised. I appreciate the use of the pool as a local facility but the hotel write-up is very misleading. There were different items missing on the food menu over the two days e.g. no pate, no seabass, no yoghurt etc. - too many to be ignored.
