The accommodation is in an excellent location, just a few minutes’ walk from St. Mark’s Square. It is particularly ideal for longer stays and for those who prefer to be self-sufficient, as it has everything you might need. The apartment has two bedrooms. One of them has an ensuite bathroom, while there is another bathroom next to the other bedroom, so there are two bathrooms and two toilets in total, which is a great advantage. There is also a sofa in the living room that can accommodate two additional guests. The apartment is located on an upper floor, and there are exactly 50 steps to climb. This is easily manageable for someone in average physical condition, but it could be a disadvantage for elderly guests or anyone with mobility issues. We collected the key from a key safe and communicated with the host via WhatsApp. We never met the host in person, but communication was friendly, professional and very quick. Although the Booking.com description mentions an additional fee for late check-in and also refers to a deposit that supposedly needs to be paid by credit card, neither of these applied in our case. There was no deposit and no late check-in fee. I gave the apartment a 10/10 rating because I wanted to support the apartment and the team. Despite the minor issues mentioned above, we had a very pleasant stay.

My only real disappointment is that this old, presumably very valuable apartment could be transformed into a beautiful place with relatively little investment and by replacing just a few fixtures and pieces of furniture. At the moment, functionality seems to have been prioritised over aesthetics. For example, it would be worth having the lighting in the living room repaired. If that is not possible, the unnecessary wiring could be removed and the rather unattractive floor lamp replaced with something nicer. There are many other small details like this that could significantly improve the overall comfort and atmosphere of the apartment. You should also be aware that there may not always be hot water in the shower in the separate bathroom. We did have hot water in the other bathroom. Unfortunately, the internet connection is practically unusable. Our Speedtest showed only 3.40 Mbps, with a ping of 306/541 ms. If you are planning to work remotely from the apartment, the Wi-Fi is not suitable for that.

It was clean. Host was helpful upon arrival with questions about Venice.

We selected this place over others because it had a canal view. Unless you are very tall, you cannot see out of the windows making this not worth it. We had no place to put our luggage. 4 people = 4 suitcases and backpacks on the floor. A luggage stand or shelving in the closets would be nice. The water in both showers fluctuates from VERY hot to very cold without ever touching the controls making it dangerous if you reactively try to jump out of the way, there were no towels in the kitchen- had to go to get from bathroom, from exterior to interior door no light- juggling suitcases and phone flashlight also was not safe or easy going up stairs I have very rarely written reviews like this but this was expensive and we should have been able to expect safety (water and lighting), places to unpack luggage, and blankets.
