Loh jinawi Guest House Bunaken

Short version: Now that was amazing! Perfect, freshly cooked food in a huge variety, a solo bungalow in a pretty garden and two lovely hosts who did everything to make our stay perfect! If you come with a child, even better - this is a very child friendly place to say the least! Long version: I spent 5 nights at Loh Jinawi with my 7-year-old son. The hosts, Vera and Gehard, are incredibly lovely and made us feel like family. They also didn't mind taking care of my son when I went diving! And he loved them, too. He had lots of fun with Gehard and the kids in the village, he didn't miss me at all. Vera cooks phantastic indonesian meals, the portions are generous, we were never able to finish it all (ok, if you are two hungry grown up men, you probably could ;) Gehard grilled fish for us twice for dinner. Imagine freshly grilled Mahi-Mahi with veggies, sambal, corn fritters and rice! Delicious!! The room/bungalow is huge and the garden is pretty and offers a lot of privacy. The water pressure in the shower is low, as expected in Indonesia, but there is a big bucket of water to shower with, so everybody gets clean (and taking showers from the bucket was extra fun for my kid!) The aircon worked well, the bed was comfortable and everything was clean and well maintained, so nothing to complain about. It's also very quiet due to the location outside the village. As for activities, the number one is diving and snorkelling, of course. Snorkelling is possible from the beach (which has mangroves) depending on the tide - but Gehard was also willing to take us out a little bit on his boat and went snorkelling together with us (again - fun for my kid... you notice the pattern?) Vera and Gehard have a shop in the village, a laundry service and scooter rental. You can also rent fins for snorkelling. Virtually everything you could need on this island is covered by them (and when you need medical support, they will organize it as well).

(I ran out of space, so I resume the positive things here... there are no negative things, so you can stop looking for them) We were sad when we had to leave and we hope that we can visit this place and the beautiful, warmhearted people there again one day! I wish I had an uncle like Gehard for my son here... Thank you for everything and see you again!

Wir haben uns im Loh Jinawi Guest House vom ersten Moment an unglaublich wohlgefühlt. Vera und Gehard sind zwei sehr herzliche, liebevolle und hilfsbereite Gastgeber. Beide sind sehr flexibel und versuchen wirklich, alles möglich zu machen. Man fühlt sich hier nicht wie in einer normalen Unterkunft, sondern eher so, als würde man bei Freunden übernachten. Auch das Essen war hervorragend. Besonders schön fanden wir, dass wir selbst entscheiden konnten, wann wir Frühstück, Mittag- und Abendessen haben möchten. Alles wurde immer frisch zubereitet und es gab jeden Tag unterschiedliche Gerichte. Vera ist wirklich eine sehr gute Köchin und wir haben uns jedes Mal auf das Essen gefreut. Mit Gehard haben wir außerdem eine Delfin- und Schnorcheltour gemacht. Wir hatten tatsächlich das Glück, Delfine zu sehen und beim Schnorcheln unglaublich viele Schildkröten zu entdecken. Ein wunderschönes Erlebnis, das wir nicht vergessen werden. Vera und Gehard geben einem das Gefühl, wirklich willkommen zu sein. Ihre herzliche und persönliche Art hat unseren Aufenthalt auf Bunaken zu etwas ganz Besonderem gemacht. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen und können das Loh Jinawi Guest House von Herzen weiterempfehlen! Wir wünschen den beiden von Herzen nur das Allerbeste und hoffen sehr, dass all ihre Pläne und Wünsche in Erfüllung gehen. Wie Gehard sagen würde: “Slowly slowly :D“

Der einzige kleine Minuspunkt ist der sehr geringe Wasserdruck in der Dusche. Zum Duschen nutzt man daher am besten die bereitstehende Wassertonne mit Schöpfkelle. Für uns war das aber überhaupt kein Problem und hat den Aufenthalt nicht beeinträchtigt.

J'ai adoré mon séjour chez Gehart et Vera. Ce sont des hôtes formidables, d'une gentillesse rare. Le logement est très confortable, très propre, grand, et décoré avec goût. Vera est une excellente cuisinière. C'est chez eux que j'ai le mieux mangé. J'ai été malade et Gehart et Vera ont veillé sur moi avec beaucoup d'attention et de patience jusqu'à ce que j'aille mieux. Ils m'ont même emmenée à l'hôpital de Manado. En prime, le spot de snorkeling situé juste devant le logement est exceptionnel. Je recommande sans hésiter à tout voyageur cherchant une expérience authentique et humaine à Bunaken. Si je pouvais mettre plus que 10, je le ferais, c'est vraiment mérité. Merci encore à vous deux Gehart et Vera, vous êtes des hôtes exceptionnels.

We had a wonderful experience at Vera and Gehrard’s cottage! The place is big, super clean and well furnished, with a beautiful patio and a garden, located in a quiet and suggestive area very close to the village. Vera and Gehrard are a super friendly and sweet couple, ready to propose great trips to wonderful locations and to satisfy every need. Vera is also an amazing cook and provided yummy meals every day. Gehrard ‘the capitain’, took personally us with his boat to discover the most great experiences you can have in the area (even dolphins and whales!). We strongly recommend this place and hope to come back one day :)
