The room was a lot better than expected the view and jacuzzi bath and the huge kitchen, the staff are so friendly and helpful. And made us feel welcome the second we walked through the door, will definitely be coming back, the receptionist ruby was very helpful and made our few days away amazing even though it is still going through renovations I'm sure it will look even more amazing when it's finished.
Will definitely recommend it to other comic con goers and my friends.
The top floor quarter deck bar was closed this time and only for booked events.
When we came the last time we had drinks on the rooftop balcony, which was a nice experience.
Beds could be a bit more comfortable as mattresses looked old and linen could be a bit more soft.

Excellent location - hotel steeped in history, lovely bathrooms, beds comfy, rooms have potential to be incredible BUT… need a good dust, scuff marks on almost every wall, grout in bathroom needs refreshing. Reception staff excellent, dealt with noisy neighbour (having a rave) immediately.
Lifts with paper hanging off, room needed a good deep clean, walls with scuffs easily wiped off or painted over. Breakfast a farce- lots of staff not doing very much only one doing anything (small blond hair lady with a star on her top lip). Took an age for breakfast and really poor service. Needs to be managed much better

Location is very good
Room needs a major make over and we paid extra for the deluxe room.
Bedside lights didnt work.
Iron cord showing bare wires.
Iron dirty.
Light in bathroom very poor.
Shower water did not drain so stood in loads of water while showering.
Windows nailed shut.
1 small fan
Breakfast - cup of tea was cold, they did change this when asked.
Bacon was cold.
Egg hard.
Beans tasted very sweet.
Hash brown sloppy.
Also they physically take £100 from your bank as a deposit then you have to wait for it to be returned. Most hotel take a holding deposit that doesn't actually leave your account.
Overall - we would not book there again. This used to be 30 James Street and was awful. White star have taken over and was hoping it had been updated.
