The robin hood

It's worth noting that the people who run this pub only took it on about 4 months ago, and are working really hard to make a go of it; they deserve to succeed. The dinner for £9.95 was exceptional; I had Scampi, chips - really nice ones - and salad, really well presented, hot, freshly prepped and my husband has the equivalent of Hunters chicken. For a Wednesday evening the bar area was pretty full, so I'd say it's a popular place with the locals which is always a good sign. The room has a fridge and a microwave; both convenient for longer stays, as well as tea making facilities. Rooms are currently being decorated. The courtyard is pleasant. It would work for those working away from home, and had a bit of storage space. There are televisions and pool (or may have been snooker) tables in the bar area which isn't really for us, but suits lots of others.and these were popular. We were able to take our dog at no extra charge.

Be aware that room access is up an external metal staircase - around 15 steps - so not suitable access for everyone. The young man did kindly offer to carry our cases up, although we were okay to manage ourselves. The following are suggestions, or constructive criticism - not complaints - as the new management are giving it their all! Bedside lights would be very helpful! The bed wasn't uncomfortable for sleeping in but I could feel the springs when I was sitting up a bit in bed! It's fairly basic quality. It's not somewhere we would make a base for a holiday, but we couldn't fault the value for money on our overnight stay. Booking.com said breakfast was available at the property for £9.95 - and we felt it would be really good based on our dinner experience -unfortunately that service wasn't starting on weekdays until the following Monday 🙄. However, we found a superb cafe a couple of miles away with excellent staff / service which we enjoyed visiting. it was called The Courtside cafe, was dog friendly and you can walk from there although we didn't have time on this occasion.

No soap in bathroom or milk for tea and extractor fan in bathroom not working

We didn't stay for Breakfast but I'm sure it would have been excellent as was the evening meal. The wife and I both went for the Rump steak and I have to say we have visited many high end restaurants but the food at the Robin Hood was the best we have ever had and trust me we know. The atmosphere was excellent from all staff very friendly welcoming and we watched the staff preparing for a 21st birthday party while a baby gender reveal was going on Harry Potter couldn't have done what the staff did in the time. Fabulous pub and very reasonably priced. Well Done to the Robin Hood xx

Absolutely Nothing.

The Check in was nice and easy, but on reflection very little information was given about checkout. The staff were polite and friendly enough. The ambiance in the main bar was ok, It was lively as they had a quiz night on (Wednesday evening). They had a good reasonably priced menu. The Food was what you would expect from a pub advertising 'home cooked' it was and it was plentiful and of an ok standard. It was situated very well for where my journey was taking me on to.

The room was cold and drafty. I attempted to put the radiator on to warm things up a bit, but the heating did not appear to be on. The bed was squeaky and rattled quite a bit every time i moved, which i found annoying. The duvet covers were thin so i ended up using the one from the other bed as well to try and warm up. There was little instruction from the young lady who booked me in about what to do the following morning, i assumed there would be staff on hand for check out and or serving some tea coffee or some such, but there was none and the bar area was completely closed and darkened. There was nowhere to leave the key and no instruction as to what to do to check out, so i spent 10 minutes walking around the building trying to find a key drop, letter box or some indication of what to do, but none to be found. Ended up leaving the door to the room unlocked and the key on the side table-Not ideal at all!
