About this house rental
Are you looking for a vacation rental that provides peace and quiet? Want to get away from all the hustle and bustle of city life? Then this is the house for you! In 2008 Hurricane Ike devastated the Caplen Shore subdivision. Pelican Bluff was the first home to return. This beach house has a spectacular gulf view from the living room, master bedroom and guest bedroom! Sleeping quarters include master bedroom with king size bed, guest room with queen bed and a bunk room with 1 full and 1 twin bed. For your convenience all beds are pre-made with linens provided for free! Beds for 7 people plus one roll-away cot for the 8th person. Two bedrooms include a TV and built in DVD player. The house is also a split floor plan with bedrooms on each side of the house. The living room sports a big screen TV, WIFI & Pandora.. But the best part is the beachfront view! Watch the sun rise or sun set, see the ships travel on the Gulf and dolphins frolic in the water. A quick walk puts you on a secluded area of the beach with very little traffic. A six foot wide golf cart path makes getting to the beach quick and easy. The grill, built in picnic tables and outdoor shower downstairs make entertaining easy and enjoyable in any kind of weather. Plenty of parking for guests, boats and trailers. Large lawn for horseshoes and volleyball. Into birdwatching?? Because there is so much vacant land and because Bolivar Peninsula is know for its bird migration, guests can sit on the deck and see many different kinds of birds including the Roseate Spoonbill. The house is in a great location. Mosquitos were tough but since it was chilly we did not spend much time downstairs. The deck was perfect and the view incredible. Would like to see some chair cushions on the deck like pictured. Overall fantastic two days!

This place was amazing!!! The most perfect view and communication and customer service were great. Can't wait to book and stay there again!! Was sad to leave and also sad that I forgot to sign the guest book before we left but will make sure to do so the next time!

Pelican Bluff was very comfortable & close to the beach - just a short walk along the sandy path & over the little bridge. Or ride a golf cart! The house had everything we needed to enjoy our 4 nights with family & dogs. The kids especially liked being so close to the water. The house was very clean & check in was easy. Margene was quick to respond if we had a question. We hope to make it back again. I had never stayed in a newer house, so the slight sway (due to the height) was weird at first, but was easy to get used to.

My family and I had a wonderful time I didn’t get to spend as much time on the beach as I wanted to thanks to getting a bad sunburn on the second day here but I was able to enjoy the sound and smells of the ocean from the shade on the porch. This place feels like home from the comfortable beds, great hostess and local people. I will not rent from anyone but Margene. Who I thank dearly for sharing your home with us once again.

Three 70+ years ladies and their 60 year old friend enjoyed 5 wonderful days at Pelican Bluff on Bolivar Peninsula. The house was absolutely awesome. Beautiful deck to watch the sunrise and a minute walk to the beach. Only one other house in the area (and it wasn't occupied) so we totally had a private beach. Not much for nightlife and only a handful of restaurants but we were looking for a quiet beach vacation anyway. Loved the Fish Camp restaurant and visited there two evenings. Just loved our stay and the house was PERFECT.

There are not enough words to describe how amazing this property is! We loved loved loved it! The location is FANTASTIC! If you want a literal beach front view, this place is for you. If you want your own walking/cart path, this place is for you. If you want to feel like you are in some sort of novel or movie while walking down the path to the beach, sitting on the deck watching and listening to the waves, this place is for you. If you want seclusion on the beach, this is seriously the place for you! I have nothing bad to say about this place. Clean, open and airy, had everything we needed. It is smaller, but perfect for a couple or a small family. Our dogs enjoyed it too! Loved the gate at the top of the deck so we could keep the dogs outside to dry without worry. This part of the beach did have people, but it was mostly small families or a couple just enjoying the waves. By 6 in the evening its mostly empty for a good stretch. There are no neighbors, so it was quiet. No real light polution so you could see the stars and Milky Way perfectly. We will definitely be back for as many years as they will rent this place! Awesome beach location! Private beach access, beautiful sunsets, spectacular blue moon made our end of summer vacation wonderful. The home was great and pretty accurate to the listing with some normal wear and tear on the furniture. No neighbors was a plus. There is a new home build right behind the home, but currently empty. We have been to Bolivar peninsula several times and certainly plan to come back to this rental.

Third time we have stayed here - the proximity to the beach is fantastic. Also, it’s not in “Crystal beach” proper, so you’re all by yourself on the beach. We were looking for a spot that we’d be comfortable with the kids wandering through the dunes and playing on the beach without us having to do a full beach setup - this is the place. That said, we also did a full beach setup every day…but being slightly removed from the hustle and bustle of main Crystal beach is fantastic.

Horrible experience at this property. After showing up almost an hour after check in time to find the cleaners just starting, and having linens spread around the deck to air dry, because they told me nothing works in the house and they didn’t have time to wash everything, we were told we would have to wait another hour and 15 min. With a group of small children we went to town for dinner which the host didn’t even offer to pay for etc or offer a discount. Upon arriving back to the house with the sun going down we unloaded everything and then discovered there was obvious massive black mold all over the one bathroom (we didn’t use the bathroom until unpacked). Upon further inspection there was back mold in almost every AC vent, light port, return vent, and many wall light switches. Host was hostile and unapologetic for the lost time, money, and inconvenience. After a hostile conversation the owner reluctantly agreed to discount our fees and smugly, thanked me for the business after the refund was issued. Also the host states the home sleeps 10. FYI there is two beds and a small bunk. The other beds she refers too are a minuscule, stained and broken cot that my 6 year old barely fit in, and two small recliner chairs that the host thinks are appropriate for someone to sleep in. Terrible experience!

The house was very nice. The view was amazing. Nice and quiet. The perfect spot for a peaceful getaway. Would have been the perfect weekend if it hadn’t been so cold, windy and rainy but that’s Texas for you! Margene is a great host!

This property was exactly what it said it would be. We had an enjoyable stay with the ocean at every angle of the front deck. It was nice to be at the ocean even when we needed a break from the water. It’s also a family friendly place. The deck has a gate on it which we appreciated with little ones.
I would definitely recommend this property.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful place! The proximity to the uncrowded beach couldn't be beat. We loved being able to sit on the deck, listen to the waves and relax. We definitely hope to visit again soon!

The management is top notch. Available and accommodating. Allowing pets was huge for us. Our biggest issues were things beyond anyone's control. The mosquitos were unreal and the seaweed ruined fishing. But the house was very nice and had everything we needed!

We loved staying at the Pelican Bluff it is an experience we will never forget not only was the house amazing but the view was beautiful. Margene was a wonderful host and we look forward to staying at her place again. The house is the perfect place for watching the sunrise in the morning and enjoying family time as you BBQ in the evening. The house is just a short drive to some great restaurants and just a ferry ride away from Galveston

I’ve lost count of how many times we’ve stayed here… 7 or 8… but always a pleasant experience. Owner a delight! Home is clean, comfortable and the secluded location can’t be beat! Crystal Beach has been exceptionally clean our last 2 stays… October 2021 and now in September 2022. If you want to get away this property will not disappoint!

This property is in a prime location. It’s secluded makes you feel like you’re the only one in the whole world. Short walk to the beach. Plenty of open space for air mattresses for the kids. We had no issues, except septic was over following and the light box came on right after we got there but I called right away and with in an hour they had someone out there taking care of it! Zero complaints! Will book again here!

Wonderful stay and the owner was very responsive. Home was very clean and fit our family of five well. The view from the porch is unparalleled, great sunrises with no obstructions to the beach. The trail to the beach provided great access, and we pretty much had the beach to ourselves due to the closest neighbor being hundreds of yards away. Hopefully it stays this way because anyone who is looking for solitude will find it here. I am not a huge fan of drive on beaches but traffic was minimal and mostly golf carts, no crazy drivers to report. Less than a ten minute drive to town and traffic was not bad at all. Overall it was an amazing stay and we will definitely look them up again if we return to the Bolivar Peninsula.

Wonderful location
This property sits alone. Even on July 4 weekend, the beach was not crowded in front of the house. The deck had shade and sun. The inside of the house is comfortable with everything needed for an enjoyable house. We will be back…soon!
