Inconvenience of the current works and no pool on site - would have been good to know sooner or offered refund

Wonderful and helpful staff, great rooms and a decent breakfast. Close to Orchard Rd and good transport links.

Its great to see that works are happening to upgrade but it would have been good to know before booking or offered a refund. We appreciated the alternative arrangement for the pool but it was a big inconvenience and that was the main reason we booked here.

The people. Saravanan and Irfan and the other gentleman at the reception whose name escapes me at the moment made our stay special! Having said that - It's very hard reviewing hotels in Singapore because one spends so little time in them. This time though we had an excellent meal at the Indian restaurant which was excellent - and singlehandedly handled by Mr. Saravanan, who did an excellent job, catering to our whole group of tired, crazy shoppers!

The hotel did inform us that there were renovations being undertaken during our stay there, so we weren't surprised when there was noise of heavy machinery working - in all honestly, this wasn't much of an issue because we were not at the hotel for many hours of the day!

Staff have been lovely, in particular in the executive lounge. We were offered a later checkout once we requested if we could change hotel to another Holiday Inn with a pool but they were unable to offer a change. Sarvinder deserves a special mention for being a gem; an excellent level of service and attitude from her, especially when we raised our concerns and with her manner of handling of the executive lounge timings.

What a change in this hotel. We stayed here many years ago and had such a great experience we thought we would come back. Back then we had a gorgeous room, high up overlooking the presidential gardens and a great experience of the pool. This time it was very different. We had a room much lower down over looking Cuppage Plaza. This was an experience in itself. Since covid there has been a decline in Cuppage Plaza and unknown to us before this this trip, it is now very much a hub for red light activities, which were clearly seen gathering business from our bedroom window. In addition when we arrived at the hotel we were told that the pool would be shutting within 36 hours for 3 months. No prior notification from booking.com or the Holiday Inn. One of the main reasons we booked this hotel was for the swimming pool. We managed to get one day in before it closed. The notice was misleading as it specified pool closure. What it didn't mention was the entire 8th floor would be closing so no sauna and no outdoor area. There is building work taking place between 10am and 6pm daily. Which again we were not notified of by booking.com or Holiday Inn. We had access to the executive lounge on floor three. On a weekend children are not allowed in the executive lounge after 6pm. Which now leaves children with no where to go in the hotel after 6pm. Which is not ideal when you need to get two children of different ages to bed. Perhaps a revision should be made to this policy during the swimmimg pool closure. After 8pm soft drinks and tea and coffee are only available. No food or alcoholic beverages, which was frustrating with jet lagged children on arrival. On our last day we had a late checkout. We left our no service/do not disturb on our room. We came back to find two engineers in it tending to the air-conditioning cupboard behind the door.
