Turtle Cove Exclusive Island Resort

It could have been better it they have a restaurant in the place or fishermen bringing in fish

We had the entire resort to ourselves in the 4 days that we stayed in Turtle Cove, as a family looking to distress, to tech detox and get away from all the hassle and buzzing of the city lifestyle , we couldn’t have asked for a better deal. James and Rona are hospitable resort owners, they made sure we were comfortable. They made us feel safe and at home for the period of time we stayed in their resort. As you can imagine living in an island can present some challenges and that’s including availability of food choices, however even with the limited options on food availability while we we’re there, they always made sure that we had plenty to drink and served us with generous portion of available healthy dishes. They were great companies and so as the staff. The service was good and very laid back, exactly what you expect from the islanders. Turtle Cove is partnered with boat and tour operators, weather permitting James can Pre arrange the tours and even make the itinerary for you. (defo bonus) Turtle Cove Health Retreat doesn’t offer yoga, pilates or meditation classes, they are still far from your typical Bali Health Retreat, but has an on call masseuse for Php 700 massage p/HR (pricier than Palawan) . Unfortunately we didn’t try the massage as we have a scheduled to have a Thai massage when we get back to Bulacan, so I can’t compare the quality of Turtle Cove massage but James said it’s excellent. The weather isn’t great on our last day so we couldn’t enjoy the water for swimming but James, Rona and staff made sure we’re comfortable while stuck in their beautiful island. They even send in Melissa’s gorgeous little girl Jamela so our son have someone to play with. 👍 They have a delish spring water which they bottled in and offer to the customers for free but ultimately waking up with a spectacular Seaview and drinking our own brewed coffee at our private cove was priceless.

There is always room for improvement. We are not fussy clients but as a paying customer this is my constructive comments as I would like to see James’ and Rona’s business become very successful. We stayed in one of their exclusive Villa with a private pool. The Villa on the other hand is not the typical villa we would considered, I would described it as just a double room ensuite accommodation rather than a villa (no kitchenette or living space) . The orientation of the building could be better if the door is facing the cove. This however will probably change once the renovation has commence for the new built-villas. The room is pretty basic, has a little fridge, a fan, an optional air conditioning unit, a double bed and a very much traditional Filipino style bathroom (The shower and the flush doesn’t work) . I certainly think it has plenty of potential and the room rate charge at €50 per night not including breakfast ( this is the discounted rate! ) would have been more accurate if the bathroom and the room facility itself is not outdated. I’m comparing the accommodation to similar priced accommodation we’ve experienced in Asia and Europe. Turtle Cove has fabulous amenities but adequate facilities. As seasoned travelers, we’ve stayed in several cheap (€6) to luxury (€300 per night) accommodation all over Asia and Europe with the cheapest option having better room facility (air-conditioned and breakfast inclusive) than the Turtle Cove Villa. It’s my first time in Romblon and I wasn’t sure what to expect on food. The food although healthier than most Filipino dishes can definitely improve on taste and flavours. Turtle Cove offers their version of healthier food options rather than the standard Filipino salty and saucy food, but having eaten healthy food choices all my life I know that healthy options can be jazzed up with the right use of herbs and spices.
