We don’t usually leave reviews, but this property and its owners were a definite exception and deserve praise. This was easily our best rental experience ever, and we cannot wait to stay again. Our adult kids enjoyed the snack basket, and we gathered around the long kitchen island multiple times during our stay. When we reached out to the owners with a question, their response time was less than a couple of minutes. We cannot wait to stay again. Thank you!

We visited Houghton/Hancock for a long weekend to see our son at MTU. This house was amazing in warm and welcoming comfort. Our hosts Julie and Mike were very quick to communicate with and added special touches for us when we arrived, which we greatly appreciated! This house has a large, well equipped kitchen; spacious living room; comfortable bed; nice big primary bathroom; hot tub on the large deck. And the beautiful views out of all the windows. Clean and well kept; beautiful yard. Grocery and restaurants just down the street. We ate at Gino’s, The Library and the Den. All very good. We would definitely stay here again !

This home was amazing! The homeowners went above and beyond to ensure that my wife and I had an amazing extended weekend for her birthday with friends. The home was very well stocked with anything we could need. Everyone in our group is looking forward to returning!

The views are amazing and the property was beautifully maintained. Perfect home base to explore the Peninsula. Check in was easy and the hosts were very responsive and accommodating. Would definitely stay here again!

Our stay at Julie and Mike's home far exceeded expectations. Clean, comfortable, and easy to get to from downtown Houghton along with PLENTY of room for our family of 6 to all spread out. They made sure we had the wifi password and access to the house well in advance and were VERY easy to get ahold of in case any questions arose. In addition to a hot tub with sprawling skyline views, a sauna, and beautiful family space this home was also complete with everything you'd need to whip up great family meals in addition to exploring local food flare that Julie and Mike so graciously displayed via menus in a beautiful welcome basket (there was also snacks and wine)! If you're looking for a home away from home to relax day through night or as a base for adventure into Copper Country look no further :) we will absolutely be back.

Soaking in the hot tub with a cool breeze blowing across the water, looking down at the twinkling lights of the town, then looking up at the twinkling stars above, it was magical. We had a wonderful stay.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay and could t have asked for a better experience. The home was easy to find, clean, inviting, and set up perfectly for relaxing and enjoying the amazing view. The hosts were super responsive to questions and provide a warm, personal touch. We will be staying here again!

I knew the Hilltop House would be something special the moment I found it on VRBO. We walked into an absolutely beautiful house, and were greeted with freshly cut flowers from the garden and fresh groceries in the fridge ( saved us a trip to the store -thank you!) However, the view from the deck was priceless! Looking over the Portage Canal, the city of Houghton, and the lift bridge from above ..some days we didn’t want to leave the house! But it was nice to come home to -loved relaxing there at night with the gas fire pit. The property is very private and peaceful, and the perfect location for exploring the Keweenaw. We also highly recommend walking the trail right across from the house to The top of Mt. Ripley ..more amazing views! The Quincy Mine is within walking distance as well. We loved our stay here, Mike was great, and we would definitely come back :)

Amazing view from the deck down over Houghton! For our multi-generational family trip, someone was always on the deck either reading a book, admiring the view or enjoying the hot tub. It was a great jumping off point for day trip excursions around the Keweenaw peninsula. AE Seaman Mineral Museum is a hidden little gem enjoyed by all (including teenagers)! Mike and Julie were very welcoming and reached back out to answer any additional questions about the property we may have had after getting situated. This was a great touch that we hadn't experienced before through VRBO.

This is an absolutely beautiful property - top to bottom, inside and out. The location is great, views are spectacular. The house is so comfortable - we did not want to leave. It met the needs of our 3-generation family - a space for everyone. Mike and Julie are gracious hosts.

Julie and Mike's house on the hill overlooking Houghton/Portage Lake was nothing short of perfection. If you are lucky enough to get this house for your next trip, you probably won't want to leave! Watch the city lights twinkle as you relax in the hot tub, drink a glass of wine in the entertainment-ready kitchen, sleep tight in their sparkling clean bedrooms. We will be back!

It was beyond my expectations. The home was comfortable and beautiful. The views of Portage Canal were stunning.
