Our stay was brief but I wish it could have been longer. The home was exactly as described. The ride in was an adventure! The atmosphere of the property was perfectly peaceful. My kids told me when we were leaving that all other vacation homes will be measured against this one!

We had a great time at the Lazy Bear Lodge. The property was spacious, clean, beautiful, and had everything we needed. Marty was very responsive with any questions we had. Part of its secluded charm, though, is that it is not easy to get to for city slickers like us—15 miles of unpaved roads made it a trek to go into town. Perfect place to hang out with family and friends and get away from civilization for a bit!

This Lazy Bear Resort is truly a private, remote location. Once you make the long trip down the windy road you will embark on a log cabin in the woods. The cabin is absolutely beautiful and well described in its listing. We wish the lake was a little more accessible, but other than this no complaints.

I stayed at the Lazy Bear Lodge with my family and friends. The cabin was great. Very clean and well appointed. The property was beautiful! All of us in my group (6 adults and 6 kids) loved the Lazy Bear Lodge and had a great time. We would love to come back. Marty was a great host. Thank you, Marty, for your hospitality!

The property looks just like the pictures. It was beautiful, secluded and quiet. We had 4 families with kids and adults and we enjoyed the property and the amenities. We were a little nervous driving out because it’s very remote. But once we got there the property was just as advertised and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

We could not be happier with the Cozy Bear Lodge or it’s host Marty! Communication is key and he answered all of our questions with patience and passion for us to have a great stay. Which we did! Accommodations were top notch and this place is a true get away! If you want peace, you have it! If you want adventures in the wilderness or to do some riding you have it! Just could not have had a better time! We will be back!

Wonderful off the grid snowmobiling paradise. We had an amazing time for our annual father son snowmobile trip. The cabin was clean with all the comforts of home. The sauna was great after a full day on the trails. Marty is a great host. I highly recommend his cabin. Four wheel drive vehicles are needed in the winter.

Fantastic stay with great snow and an even greater host! Marty was always accessible, and helped us out when we had issues with a snowmobile. It truly is off the grid, in the middle of nowhere! You would never know it however, because it has all the comforts of home. Definitely need four wheel drive in the winter, and GPS to guide you. I would strongly suggest this to the avid snow rider. Lots of miles to be found in this true back country! Thanks again Marty!

We had a great long weekend in the UP. The property is wonderful, very well-stocked and apportioned. Marty is an amazing resource, always available and eager to assist. We are hoping to be back soon!

Marty made our experience and stay incredible For our family

We had three couples and this cabin was amazing! Back in the woods with all the comforts of home. We road the trails on our side by sides to Big Bay and around the area, attend a wedding, fires every night and the sauna topped it off! That said was able to work a little with great internet connectivity. We will be back for snowmobile season!!!

This is a beautiful remote cabin in the woods!
Our crew of Jeep drivers throughly enjoyed its authenticity and amenities. With excellent trail access between Marquette, Ishpeming and Big Bay we had an awesome time of discovery in the northern Upper Peninsula. The home was a quintessential log cabin with everything you would need and desire. The hosts are friendly and responsive and we really enjoyed our stay.
Our Jeep crew boasts the tagline of “Lost in the Woods” and this place perfectly encapsulates our desires. Get lost in the wild but come home to the comforts and warmth of this expansive yet cozy cabin in Champion Michigan!

Top Notch!
Came here with the family for a relaxing time in nature. We loved it! The house, annex, sauna, and grounds are all beautifully done and well maintained. It's remote, which is what we wanted, but this place is so well though out that it doesn't even feel like "off the grid". Our whole family agreed that Marty and Carol were the best hosts we've experienced - very communicative and helpful! We're glad we got to meet them upon arrival, as we could tell they're just good people. We would definitely love to visit again someday and will for sure recommend this to anyone planning a trip to the western U.P.

Amazing home, and excellent host
This home is absolutely beautiful. The views from the deck, and windows are amazing. This home is miles away from civilization, and off grid, yet felt like you could have been a mile from town with the electricity, running water, internet service and satellite TV. The thought this host put into this vacation home is almost unbelievable. The home is equipped with, family games, playing cards, fishing gear, a canoe, extra outdoor chairs, a playpen and high chair for toddlers,(absolute life saver after we forgot ours.) A fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, and more than enough towels and washcloths for a party of 15. There was a hummingbird feeder on the back deck that was used day and night, and provided hours of enjoyment for the kids and adults alike.
The home is very remote, and on a large pond, so there were a ton of mosquitoes when we arrived, however Marty had provided a fogger, and a mosquito trap that took care of the issue almost immediately. With all those mosquitoes one would assume such a remote home would be a haven for spiders and other insects, but the home was spotless inside and out.
We couldn't be happier with our stay, and would recommend this home to anyone. If I had to pick a drawback, it's the long drive on dirt roads to get to the home, but even that was enjoyable as we saw a multitude of animals, like deer, porcupines and even a glimpse of a small black bear. 5 stars

Remote Cabin Experience
Phenomenal property that was completely isolated deep in rugged nature. A “frontier” experience while in Michigan is a unique thing. Access to Marquette and surrounding area a drive but reasonable. Sauna on the property elevates the stay to the next level. Will leave here calmer, as life will have slowed down and connection to nature ensued. Marty a great host, supportive, communicable, and laid back. Once in a lifetime experience, would highly recommend.

Winter Wonderland
Great Property in the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The cabin was exactly as listed. Clean, cozy and comfortable. Marty was a great host who was constantly checking in on us. A major snowstorm had come thru and he wanted to make sure we could get out.

Backcountry snowmobiling
The place is exactly as listed. Awesome location out in the woods. The communication with the property manager was the best I’ve ever had at a VRBO. Absolutely planning our trip to stay here for next winter already.

The Lazy Bear Lodge is completely isolated from the rest of the world (although Wi-Fi and cable work flawlessly). It is about 40 minutes from Marquette and seemed to be about 20 minutes to the nearest neighbors! The property is powered by solar panels and a battery system that is supplemented by an industrial propane generator. It ran a couple of times during our visit and was unnoticeable unless near the building it is housed in. We spent a week during the holidays and were very comfortable with the heat generated by the propane stoves in the main cabin and in the annex. The beds were comfortable, the linens/towels were very nice, and the water was hot once it warmed up (takes a minute especially in the sauna bathroom which serves those starting in the annex). The sauna was a major hit with everyone, but particularly the kids in our group. Marty was kind and groomed a couple of sledding hills for us through the trees. We spent hours enjoying those and then warming up in the sauna. We dedicated a morning to clearing a 40x30 section of the pond/lake to use as our ice skating rink. That worked wonderfully (recommend moving offshore by about 15-20 yards as the areas close to shore were slushier). We made memories that will last a lifetime and are grateful to Marty and Carol for their efforts to create such a unique and beautiful property and then to be willing to share it. Sincerely hoping to return for round 2 some day!

Everything is as described in the listing and we had no issues at all. The property owner is easy to get a hold of for any questions as they arise. Would definitely stay here again.

Loved everything about this trip! The property is amazing! The buildings are gorgeous and set up amazingly! The property manager is amazing; checks in but isn’t overly chatty. Definitely a place for families or friends trying to get away. The drive in is rough but beautiful! There’s no cell service. These were perks to us not downfalls. Plan on coming back! I love this place so so much!!

We were so happy with the Lazy Bear Lodge! A bit of a hike to get to the cabin, but Marty’s directions were spot on. It was nice to slow it down and enjoy the scenic drive. The cabin was very welcoming, with room to move around without being on top of each other. Beautiful log furniture throughout the cabin. The beds were so comfy, in fact, everyone from our group said how great they slept each night.
Another plus about the property is the stone drive, this kept down the dirt coming into house, so nice clean floors all weekend, even with much foot traffic.
Thank you for the great weekend! I look forward to returning!
