About this apartment rental

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION on DONNER LAKE, TRUCKEE: enjoy it's pristine beauty all year round! Donner Lake is called the "Jewel of Tahoe" because it’s so clean and unspoiled. There's nothing but a little sand (or snow) between you and the beautiful lake in a serene setting with panoramic views. Located on the "SUNNY SIDE" of Donner Lake. Enjoy the sun all day long. * COVID: Housekeeping is following cleaning guidelines set by the state and county health dept’s. They use bleach, a true disinfectant. Returning Guest, contact me before you book, you may be eligible for a discount. * HOLIDAYS: Plz scroll down. Government ID required. Bringing your Boat: Proof of insurance required. (onsite rental water-crafts already include insurance) SUMMER: lots of lake activities and we also have a seasonal dock, gas BBQ's, chairs, tables and chaises for your use, Memorial Day - Labor Day and a slip for your boat or your rental boat. Rent a watercraft at the marina right on the compound. They rent all sorts from jet skies to paddle boats to ski boats and party boats. Great fishing too. A 200 yards of beachfront. More info on request. *Occasionally a train goes by across the lake on the mountainside and it's great to see and hear as it charges along. WINTER: we have four major ski resorts nearby, some smaller ones and some cross country locations too. Cross country skiing areas too. Sugar Bowl is the closest major resort, 10 minutes, Squaw Valley, North Star and Alpine Meadows, 15 - 20 minutes. There's a smaller, easier, less expensive one across from Sugar Bowl called Donner Ski Ranch and the rustic/casual restaurant there also, open almost year round. * TIP - If you're beginner skiers, why spend the money for a big resort when you won't use most of it. Go for a smaller one for less cost. Lots of sledding around the area. More info upon request. For lunch and dinner there's the Lakeside Pub, just two blocks west of us, a great place to get a bite to eat mostly year round and a seasonal, cute little ice cream parlor (tacos too) across the street from us and a small convenience store. For breakfast there's Donner Lake Kitchen, 3 minutes east of us. NEARBY ACTIVITIES: Besides the lake, Casino's are 30 minutes away at Stateline and Hyatt in Incline Village, Donner Memorial State Park and museum, 4 minutes, Reno Nevada, 40 minutes and Lake Tahoe/Tahoe City/Sunnyside, 30 minutes. Kids zone in town with lots of activities. 6 miles of abandoned train tunnels with artwork on the walls from artists all over the world, 4 miles west of us. Hiking trails and smaller lakes everywhere. 1/4 mile west is the lakes largest public beach and there's a one tennis/pickle ball court there too. Organized rafting down the Truckee river or do it with your own raft or canoe for free. LAYOUT: We have two bedrooms with two and a half bathrooms and a loft. HISTORIC OLD TOWN TRUCKEE: is a 10 minute drive where you'll find quaint little shops to browse through along wooden boardwalks and restaurants of the old west from "a time gone by". People love visiting this part of town. Check out the great visitor center at the train station with plenty of brochures and info on more things to see and do in the entire region from train rides to whitewater rafting, to skydiving and much much more. The passenger train passes through daily for travelers getting on and off in Truckee. One of our favorite large restaurants is "Bar of America" for food, drinks and live music on weekends. It's quite a happening place! There's also a wine bar across the street and many, many other places to eat. MODERN TRUCKEE as I call it, is a 6 minute scenic drive along the lake. In town you'll find large chain stores for grocery, pharmacy, hardware, firewood, gas stations, restaurants, coffee shops, fast food places and more. One of our favorite restaurants there is Jalisco's for casual, excellent, authentic, fresh MEX. (located next to the 7-11 store) During these difficult times things can change rapidly. If you think you may have to cancel your trip due to covid or otherwise, we suggest you purchase “travelers insurance” so you are covered. Referral insurance co. contact upon request. WORK from our place via our strong/fast WIFI with Zoom and conferencing capability. FALL and SPRING is when it quiets down on the lake. You'll have the lake, pretty much to yourselves. It truly is a beautiful spot. The minimum age of the responsible party must be at least 28 years of age for men and 26 for women. HANDICAPPED: Unfortunately, our townhouse is probably not accessible to lower extremity handicapped people because our entrance is up a flight of stairs on the second floor and no elevator. Our townhome is "cozy and rustic" like a cabin and we like it that way which is different from our house in the Bay Area suburbia so we charge less than some others do. We truly hope you will enjoy yourselves by making yourself at home in our cozy, comfortable and rustic home. Our townhome is "rustic" and we like it like that b/c it's different than our house in suburbia and charge less.
