The staff were a lovely couple who picked us up, cooked for us, and drove us back to the bus station. (For a small fee of course) It made staying with them very easy and lovely.

Very nice couple hosting in a simple and authentic chinese environment. They are extremely nice and always happy to help and to make your trip enjoyable. Location is great near Simatai and Jinshanling great walls (which are ++++). They also propose to pick you and drive you back from/to Beijing which is very great. I recommend.

This is a Family run guesthouse close to the Gubei resort. It’s close enough to be a real alternative if you can’t find something inside the resort or if you value the experience itself. The family who runs it, is super organised. The son speaks very good English and will communicate with you regarding pick ups / drop offs / tours. The parents do the operational side, they don’t speak English but go out of their way to accommodate you - organise local transport to and from the water town, the other part of the wall, breakfast / lunch / dinner whatever you need (delicious breakfast by the way). We asked for a pick up from Beijing and a drop off at PEK - Worked great. The village itself, where the guesthouse is located, looks interesting but as it was winter, early dark and super cold, there wasn’t much happening when we were there.

The hosts were super nice, we had home made breakfast, home made pie. The owner picked us up in our Beijing’s hotel and was our driver for 2 days. After hiking the Great Wall he drove us back to Beijing which was super convenient (paid service of course).
Bugs - Bugs all around our room. Even if there were nets in the window, they are able to get somehow inside. I killed 11 of them just after arrival, another 13 when we got back from the night Simatai Wall.
Location - We chose this place bucause of its location JUST next to Gubei water town. When we arrived, we found out the hostel is 4 km away. The location in Booking is not correct
