Loved this property and was perfect for our vacation. Walking to the north shore beaches is so nice as it’s the most beautiful beaches.. in my opinion.. to be close to. Just a lovely stay and didn’t want to leave.

The property is wonderful and the design and layout of the space and buildings makes it a great choice for families with different age groups. My wife and I and step-son and his wife stayed in the main home while their two-year-old daughter slept in the bunk house, just steps away via a connected walkway. The two buildings are attached by a large porch area.
So the outdoor dining area adjacent to the kitchen and in front of the bunk house could not have been better. The beach which is a 5 to 10-minute walk away is a nice sandy beach. The house was close to a half dozen beaches and each one seemed better than the one we went to the day before.
The big unfortunate about the area in Haena where the house is located is the local dog. Three nights I was awoken in the middle of the night by a dog which barked for 90 minutes or sometimes more. A bummer. I spoke with the property manager concerning this and they were very communicative concerning our problem, but the humane society is the only group which can act on such disturbances and while I voiced my concerns about this poor dog, I can't say for sure anything was done about it.
It was a great trip, it seemed that the week was much longer and we plan to return to Kauai din the near future.
Thank you Makana!!

Our group of 8 adults found Haena Hale very comfortable and relaxing! Plenty of space to either be together or get away from eachother. Great kitchen for cooking family meals and comfy beds all around! The house is very remote- which was a gamble in the winter, but I knew that going in. No one can control the weather- so come prepared. We endured a heavy rain storm that knocked power out for 2 hours (lanterns and flashlights were easily accessible in the house), flooded the road between Princeville and Hanalei- leaving us stuck temporarily (waters receded within 24 hours), and closed the Kalalau Trail (bummer, but we had the beach to ourselves). All restaurant and shops in Hanalei (save 2 or 3) were closed, so we were happy to have brought extra groceries with us. Once the rains subsided, we were rewarded with waterfalls galore! All part of the adventure towards the end of the road!

The Haena Hale was amazing. We had a large group of ten people and the house took care of everyones needs perfectly. The estate is large and feels very comfortable and safe. The surrounding decks make it fun to walk around. The bathrooms were beautiful. The kids bunk room was really fun and the beds are more than large enough for 6 foot adults. The location of the home makes access to all my favorite places on Kauai easily accessible. Thank you Haena Hale for a great vacation!

Great house for a family or even multi-family stay. Short walk to the tunnels beach. Beach gear included is pretty good. We’ll equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. But we arrived late evening due to a flight delay and the bunk room lock box code wouldn’t work. We found out the next day that we’d been given the wrong code. But there was no answer on any of the emergency numbers provided, including the ones provided on the answering machine messages, said to be specifically for after hours emergencies. After 30 minutes trying endless variations of the lockbox code to account for possible typos with no luck and no response on the emergency numbers it looked like half our party would be sleeping on the veranda couches, with rain absolutely pouring the whole night. Luckily my brother managed side a window open for the smallest in our party to squeeze through and we got in. Certainly not the experience we’d hoped for on arrival after a long and endlessly delayed day of travel.

I had the pleasure of staying at this home with my wife, two small kids and parents. The house was *very* clean and comfortable. The house has a great layout. The bathrooms are all remodeled and modern. The wrap around deck gives you tons of options to sit outside and the views off the front porch are amazing. We ate outside on the large, covered table every night. The yard is big enough for the kids to run around and is nicely maintained. The only thing to keep in mind is the bunk bed room is separate from the main house so a little tricky with small kids.
The location is one of the best on the north shore. The closest beach is a 5 minute walk and beautiful, although not ideal for swimming. If you head to tunnels and the parking is full you can walk pretty easily. It’s a quick drive to all the best beaches on the north shore.
We would absolutely go back to this house and recommend it to anyone!

This house is great. Amazing layout with great indoor/outdoor lounge areas and a separate bunk room with plenty of space for lots of kids. The home is well equipped with all the necessary amenities (including plenty of towels, boogie boards, beach chairs, etc) but it still feels authentically Hawaiian on a lush, private property. Walking distance to a nice beach but we usually drove the 15 minutes into Hanalei for beaches and restaurants.

Great property!
Had a great time staying at Jeff's place for 4 nights. The house is really cool and being able to walk to Tunnels Beach was fantastic! I will echo some of the other reviews about the noisy neighbors because unfortunately we got neighbors next door with a lot of kids who were really loud even late at night. That's no fault of the owner though and overall still a good stay.

Beautiful private treehouse in a remote town on the north coasr
We enjoyed spending the first part of our honeymoon in this well appointed home. The location between Hanalei and the end of the road at Ha'ena was great for seeing the sights of he north shore and snorkeling tunnels beach. Our only problem with the location was getting stranded on the wrong side of the Hanalei bridge due to heavy rain and flooding for one night. Other than that we had a wonderful time and enjoyed this well thought out and beautiful home.

OK - View Not as Advertised
Let me start by saying that this is a lovely home. It was, up-to-date, clean, and it was only about a 7-minute walk to the nearest beach. We appreciated the beach chairs and cooler that was provided. The games and puzzles offered were also a nice touch.
One of the major downsides of this home is that it is VERY close to another home located on the same property. If someone so much as coughs in the other home, you can hear it - especially since there's no way to close out the noise from the windows. The windows are screens with shutters that can be opened and closed. We were lucky that the family that stayed in the other home for the majority of our time there was incredibly quiet. However, I could see how this could end up being real nuisance if we hadn't gotten so lucky.
One of the main reasons we chose this home over others was for the view from the balcony off of the bedroom shown in the photos within the listing. We were very disappointed when we arrived and saw that the view was not at all as advertised. This photo in the listing must be old, as the view is now at least 80% blocked by overgrown foliage.
We were surprised to find that although the kitchen is quite large, it's somewhat lacking in kitchen equipment, and only salt pepper, and a small amount of olive oil is provided for cooking. While I didn't dock my rating for this, I think it's worth noting. Most VRBOs with a full kitchen tend to offer a variety of spices as a courtesy.
We contacted the owner in advance of our arrival, requesting a late check out due to our flight time. We never received a response, even after following up. There was a mudslide that blocked our exit the day we needed to leave. Even then (after contacting the owner yet again), we still did not receive a response about whether we had to leave the rental by the check out time or not. We finally got ahold of someone else through another number that morning though. The lack of communication was frustrating.
Overall, it's certainly a nice place in a good location, but for the price, I think there are better options available. I don't think I would stay here again.

Noisy property
No closeable windows mean you can hear everything going on in the 6 or so units within 60 feet or so. Windows super dirty, no wipe downs on fixtures, window openings. A rodent turd next to the sink. Coffee maker present but no filters. Cheap dollar store utensils and lacking many staples of VRBO's I have stayed in. Must have been the rats nibbling off the sea almonds and banging off the roof ALL NIGHT LONG. Romantic?
Worst sleep in a long time. The road is not safe to walk on either, dark, no shoulder in places and speeders. No thanks even for a free night if I rented again

Wonderful Romantic Getaway
My girlfriend and I traveled to Hawaii for my 30th birthday and fell in love with the island and this little bungalow on the North Shore. Secluded and quiet, it had a great kitchen with close proximity for exploring the Nāpali Coast, Hanalei, and Princeville. Only drawback was the electricity in the bedroom; it didn’t work. We tried flipping the breaker to no avail, but it was never a big deal since we were exploring all day anyway. The place is tucked away behind a bigger house, but we still felt as though we had our privacy. We would definitely stay again!

Wonderful Home Away from Home!
My wife and I spent 6 nights in the Treehouse and loved it. The house was everything it was advertised to be. It was spotlessly clean when we arrived and was well furnished and equipped with everything we needed.
The first few nights we had the place to ourselves. After that, the main house at the front of the property was occupied by a large family. We were worried that having a large group right next door would be a problem, but it was not. Things were quiet throughout and we enjoyed visiting with our neighbors. (Note: the “Treehouse” is really set up as a guesthouse behind the main house on the property. However, it is a complete house with everything you need.)
We cooked some great meals in the well-equipped kitchen. We also enjoyed the very short walk to Tunnels Beach. The house even had beach chairs, a beach umbrella, an ice chest and beach towels - so we were well-equipped to spend quality time on the beach and so close that we never worried about finding a place to park.
We liked the quiet pace of the North Shore. Old Hanalei town was only a 10 minute drive away for groceries and shopping. All in all, this was just what we were looking for in a vacation rental.
We were a little worried at first that the house was not air conditioned. However, we acclimated quickly and realized we didn’t need it. There were ceiling fans in every room plus some extra fans to keep air circulating. Nights are cool and comfortable. The living room has a large skylight that is neat, but it does cause that room to warm up quite a bit in the afternoon. We were usually out and about during the middle of the day, so that really was not a factor for us.
We are looking forward to our next visit!

Amazing Stay
We just returned from our stay at the treehouse, which was amazing. It is well furnished and maintained, as others have mentioned, and just an amazingly idyllic little slice of paradise. A short walk to the beach, 10 min walk to Tunnels, 7-10 min drive to Ke'e Beach, the start of the NaPali coast hike, the Kalalua trail. While the house is a 10 minute drive to the closest town-Hanalei, we loved that it was remote and the grounds were immaculately kept. We were traveling with a 10 month old, and were provided with a pack and play and extra fans, for his comfort. No one was staying at the larger house on the property, which was simply ideal (though it probably would have been our baby that kept people up!). We would love to return one day!

Amazing Experience
Both my wife and I loved the house and location. It was an amazing experience and would highly recommend the tree house! We were only a 2 minute walk to the beach and it was only a 2minute drive to the tunnels. The house was clean and met all our needs. Thank you for opening up your home... we plan on coming back soon!

Magical
We have visited the island a few times as well as having family on Maui. This little piece of heaven was by far the best place we have stayed. Everything you need is there which made travel light. Walking to a beautiful Beach and restaurant for short trips and a beautiful drive for Day trips. The house is clean and bug Free which has been a problem other places on the island. The key code was awesome so we never worried about loosing the key. We loved the privacy of the upstairs patio having morning coffee outside looking at the lush garden was awesome. The climate at the house was the best on island. Never too Hot beautiful rainbow every morning! Thank you for making this place available, the experience was perfect.

Everything we wanted and more!
My husband and I had the most beautiful time in the tree house. It is exactly as it shows in the pictures and in the description. They left us delicious chocolates when we checked in which was a very thoughtful touch. There is a grill and a fully stocked kitchen so we really enjoyed cooking at home and spending our nights eating on the beautiful patio connected to the bedroom. You have to buy things like spices, condiments, coffee but the house provides everything else. There are beach towels, cooler, chairs, etc. You are a short walk away from the beach and only a 5 minute drive from the Na Pali coast for the most amazing beaches and hiking. There is no AC but none is needed because there are plenty of windows and thanks to the cool rainy climate its a perfect temperature every night. The only downfall about having so many windows and having to keep them open is that this tree house is in the back of another bigger house and you can hear neighbors conversations and anything they are doing at night or early morning. We were lucky and there was no one staying at the bigger house but I could see where that could be a little loud. We LOVED staying at this house, we felt like we were home, and we were very sad to have to leave. My husband and I will most definetely be back again. Thank you for everything!

Lovely time in the "tree house"
The spot was great for those who want a bit more seclusion as it's raised up on large stilts in a quiet north shore neighborhood. There is a much larger rental house on the same property, and with the open air layout if your neighbors are noisy, you'll hear it. This wasn't a problem for us however, and our kids loved the place. It's cozy and perfect for 2, though the 2 kids on the sofa bed in the living room worked fine. Very cute amenities and furnishings, including some beach chairs / umbrellas and boogie boards if you so desire. Keep in mind you're a 10 minute drive from Hanalei (groceries/restaurants) though there is a single restaurant / coffee shop within a 5 minute walk. Best part: 10 minute walk to Tunnels beach, one of the best on the island (pictured).

It was fabulous to retreat amongst the treetops at your Treehouse! We absolutely loved hearing evening and morning rains strike big broad leaves outside the many windows and the metal rooftop, the wind blowing in the Palms, and the bird songs gently waking us in the morning. We even became fond of the yowling neighbor cat who seemed to get in some sort of scuttle most mornings causing us to bust up laughing at the regularity of it. Had there not been such huge ocean swells during our visit (Tunnels and Ke'e beaches were closed), we would have gone to the nearby beaches more, as we did the first and second day by the Colony Resort and nearby YMCA beach access, but most of the days we had to travel to the beaches with calmer waters at Hanalei and Kilauea. Though the drive to and from those beaches and most other activities and happenings was a little long, it was a beautiful drive and nice to be away from it all in the evenings and mornings. We loved the space you created with unique and marvelous furnishings, pillows, fixtures, and decor. The bathroom burl wood counter, Native Trails sinks, pounded metal back splash, and local copper monkey pod coffee table are all so unique! We loved those special touches! Everything was well appointed and perfect for our small family of 3. Also, you were very responsive and answered all our questions promptly. We had a fabulous time, wished we could stay longer, and can't wait to return in the future! Thanks for everything!!! Please come to our Treehouse in Bigfork Montana someday! The Tree House is a Great Property But...
This is a well-maintained, very comfortable little home in a lush setting. Although we did not utilize much n the way of kitchen items, the home appeared to have everything one would need to cook (except the obvious things like spices and such). There were no maintenance issues and the wi-fi was quite speedy.
The "but" is the simple fact he home is about 15 feet away from a larger home managed by the same outfit. If there are guests in that home and they are not part of "your party" there could be issues with privacy (The Tree house does not have window coverings on all windows) as well as noise (Tree House windows do not keep out any noise due to style of window). If the adjoining home has children, you will most certainly hear them running around, yelling (hey, they're kids, their personal voice volume control doesn't work well) and generally carrying on like kids. This may bother some but not all occupants of The Tree House. I'm only pointing this out because y'all should know....
We loved the home and it's surroundings and furnishings. It was a very comfortable stay.
