It is essential to have realistic expectations of this hotel if you choose it. If you expect everything to be flawless and spotless, with a front desk staffed 24/7 to respond to your needs instantly, please find another place. If you want to stay comfortably in a safe place at the center of a vibrant town where real Dominicans live, this place is a great choice.
The property manager, Augie, is very friendly and hospitable. He lives there. You can find him most of the time. If he does not respond to your message on WhatsApp instantly, he will get back to you in minutes. He multi-tasks and runs around, so be mindful of this. When the big refrigerator did not work, he brought in a small one. When I wanted to heat some leftover food, he gave me an air fryer. All the people there are friendly and helpful. The logs are cute.
It does not offer airport shuttle service as advertised on Booking.com, but a taxi driver lives in the place. Augie can help you get in touch with him. He is friendly and reasonable.
The hot water is available during the day due to the dependence on solar panels. You need to run the shower head for a few minutes to get the hot water because of the long pipe.
If you want to immerse yourself in Dominican culture, this place is ideal. It is on a quiet side street, but only a few minutes' walk from the center of Friusa. A good department store is one block away, and a nice supermarket is a 5-minute walk away. A major bus station is 10 minutes away, where I took a bus to have a day trip to Santo Domingo. It has buses to many other places. A guagua (mini-bus) stop is also a few minutes away, and you can take a guagua to the beach, costing less than $1.
