The Great Wall box house is ideally situated to go walk and explore the wild Great Wall from gubeikou. The host xiao wei really looked after us and helped with everything from walking directions to cooking fantastic meals!

This is probably one of the best stay I had. Xiao Wei is an incredible host very kind and generous. Do not miss on her cooking it’s one of the highlight of my time around Beijing. Thank you again Xiao Wei!! Also the hostel is very well situated, close to the train station and 5 min walk from the wall. I would say to reserve at least a 6h of your time to do the full trail. It’s an incredible trail, but be prepared for it to be challenging some time. Be well equipped and maybe find a friend to go with you along the way instead of doing it alone.

Amazing, cozy little guesthouse right underneath the Great Wall, with a mother-like host in Xiao Wei. She prepared large vegetarian dinners every night and gave detailed advice and instructions for hiking along the Great Wall. There were 3 (maybe 4?) furry friendly cats, who will happily sleep with you, if you want 😅
Social setting, where you can easily meet other travelers
