I stayed at the St Charles hotel for a wedding weekend getaway. It is very basic accommodations. The location is great for walking into downtown but there is a park right across the street that seemed to attract a not-so-great crowd. Lobby smelled like cigarettes which was a turn off. The room was all I needed for a weekend stay. It seemed like the room and furniture had been renovated recently and the room was overall o-k. Bring ear plugs if you are there on a summer weekend and need the AC on during the night, the AC wall unit was very noisy.
Overall, it did the job as a place to sleep and shower during a weekend getaway for a wedding. Would I stay there again? No. I would save a few extra bucks and spend more dollars to stay at a nicer place.
