This is a great spot to stay in the old Lyon. It’s 1 minute away from the bus station and most of the main buses to travel across Lyon also start and finish there which made it very easy when we got tired of walking to just hop on a bus and get back home.
There’s a little cafe Jules, just in the corner that offers a full breakfast for less than 10 euro and has a great selection of pastries. A lot of local stop there in the morning. There’s also a LOT of restaurants (bouchon lyonnais) super close by which made going out to eat easy and stress free. I would recommend grabbing one of the praline brioche bread from one of the bakeries, they are delicious and a local staple 💜
The apartment was a little humid on the first day, completely normal and with an open window it got comfortable really quickly. There’s no AC but the rooms stayed cool enough to sleep peacefully even during a heat wave. The soundproofing was great, we didn’t hear any of the neighbors at night even if the apartments are all close to each other. The kitchen was well stocked and furnished. We weren’t there long enough to cook, but had everything we needed. There was a washing / dryer machine too, didn’t need it but I did see the iron and iron board there too.
The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable, it was used by my parents who both had great sleep and praised the cleanliness and comfyness of the bed and pillows. The sofa bed was fine, it does make some noise when you move, but overall I had no issues and slept well.
There’s bathroom is extremely spacious, really love the open space shower and the spa like tub. Again everything was cleaned and well maintained. I had also received clear instructions from the host on how to use everything. The hair dryer also worked great. We also had more than enough towels and soap 🧼
The location is definitely a 10/10 💜 and I would recommend it if you want to explore Lyon on foot as much as possible.
I had no issues with the stairs, but has others have mentioned there’s about 60 of them and it’s a bit of a climb. My mother doesn’t have the best knee but she managed it just fine, slowly, but anyone with more mobility issues will struggle. Again for us it was FINE! Just a keep in mind for anyone who has issues with stairs, they are uneven, old and the corridor isn’t super large to move around with big suitcases. It’s an experience from the old Lyon and I saw stairs like that everywhere.

A beautifully renovated contemporary apartment inside a very old character-filled building. The apartment included everything we needed, and we appreciated the quality of the furnishings.
There are 60 steps up to the apartment inside a tight, winding staircase. My husband and I actually liked walking up and down the stairs as exercise, even with our luggage (a little tricky), so it’s just a heads up for people who might feel otherwise. We’d stay there again in a heartbeat!

Location was wonderful once we found it as we had to call for the address. It very was clean. It’s not a big apartment but it had all the amenities one needs as we were out and about everyday.
It was so so hot at the time as there was a heatwave when we were there. Fans aren’t of the greatest. Need stronger fans. Very uncomfortable to sleep. Being on the bottom floor which is very convenient, the only thing is the apartment is tucked back in a corner with one window next to the door so therefore there is no breeze when opened. It would be lovely in the cooler weather.
There was work being done with scaffolding over our door. It would have been nice to have been informed that work was in progress during our stay. A clothes horse would be a good addition to dry clothes in the warmer weather rather than we than using the washer/dryer. There is no where to hang your towels.
