All told, I very much enjoyed my three days & three nights in this apartment. This had the potential to be a really excellent downtown place to stay (and achieve superb reviews rather than the present mixed bag) if the host could just get a few things sorted out, especially the electrics and lighting, and come up with more generous provision of (eg) rugs/towels/cutlery.
Specific plus points:
- Fantastic location. Trindade station just 5 mins walk, Aliados similar. Two supermarkets within 4 mins walk. Wide choice of restaurants nearby.
- This is a corner property, so has an exceptionally bright interior, with large windows both north and east facing. Pleasant views northwards over piazza and eastwards overlooking the tower of City Hall.
- Extremely spacious open plan kitchen/dining area and good size living room & bedroom
- All five double windows were fully openable (useful in hot weather!)
- Very efficient and easy to operate shower
- Comfortable bed and pillows gave me a good night's sleep
- Quirky artefacts and artwork in all rooms made for an interesting and characterful stay
- Simple entry code system for access both to the building and the apartment itself (no fussing with keys)
- Host was very accommodating in letting me store my bags in the flat after checkout on final day
A number of electric wall sockets were non-functional and some of the wiring looked dodgy. Two portable light fittings in living room did not work.
- Electric kettle, though it worked, was literally coming apart (the handle separating from the body)...needs replacing...potentially dangerous!
- Host, though helpful, was not always very responsive. Would have been good to get quicker answers to messages.
- Noise/buzz of people in the piazza lasted till well after midnight, but with the apartment windows shut, it was in fact perfectly peaceful indoors
- Dining table was rickety and a larger one would have been better (there was plenty of room for a more sizeable table!)
- Cutlery provision was a little sparse, and to some extent crockery too (there was a good selection of plates but a few more bowls would have been nice)
- I would have liked a rug or two in the bedroom, and another mat in the bathroom (ie one mat for the basin area and a separate one for the toilet area)
- A couple more bathroom towels would have been helpful (I could only find one hand towel and one bath towel)
- The bathroom basin was exceptionally small (there would be enough room to install a bigger one!)
- Toilet area was quirky - tall people need to mind their head in that part of the flat (though I did successfully survive 3 whole days and nights without banging my head on the ceiling there!)
- Blank north wall in bedroom (ie main stretch of wall opposite the bed) could have been enhanced with a picture, eg by transferring the one currently hanging on the south wall
- Pictures on south wall in the living room were hung too high...would be better to re-hang them closer to normal eyeline

El apartamento no estaba limpio, olía mal y el baño no tiene ni ventana ni sistema de ventilación.
