About this cabin rental
Newly remodeled mountain loft is tucked away in a quiet woodsy setting, with sleeping for 4. The loft has a spacious deck with high top table and chairs for taking in the beautiful mountain views. Rustic interior has full kitchen with bar seating and table and chairs for 4. The kitchen has stove, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, air fryer, Keurig coffee maker, microwave, toaster. Utensils, pots and plans along with basic seasonings and spices are provided. Soap and dishwasher detergent provided.
The bedroom has a queen bed and a twin bed. Bed linens are provided and beds will be made. Two futons in the living area, one full size, one queen size, offer additional sleeping areas.
The full bathroom is accessed via the bedroom and has shower/tub combo. Towels and a hair dryer are provided.
The lower level has rec room and laundry areas. The rec area has a TV, ping pong table, a second refrigerator and table/chairs for 4. The laundry has washer/dryer/sink. Laundry soap and such are provided.
Nearby area attractions include bike riding on the Va Creeper Trail, hiking the Appalachian Trail, boating and fishing on Watauga Lake, Off-Roading at Doe Mountain Recreation area. Additional hiking at Mount Rogers and Grayson Highlands.
The property is located about 10mins drive from downtown Mountain City, TN and about 20mins drive to Damascus, VA. Boone and Blowing Rock, NC and Bristol, VA are accessible as well.
Parking for 4 vehicles. Additional parking for trailers available if requested.

Overall impression is very positive. I booked the property in mid-May to attend the Damascus Trail Days festival on a two week drive/hike of the Appalachian Trail. I returned to The Loft in late May with my wife. This is special place...rustic cabin-like feel yet well equipped, spectacular mountain views, quiet seclusion but close to all modern conveniences. We enjoyed spending time in both Damascus and Mountain City. If you go, visit the Appalachian Trail Conservancy and Damascus Outfitters in Damascus. Also, on Saturday evening there's an impromptu show of classic cars on Mountain City's main street. Oh, and bring a bike to ride the Virginia Creeper bike path. Did I mention Watauga Lake? So much to enjoy in this area. Go!

This review covers two stays in May 2026...I liked it so much the first time that I brought my wife back to enjoy it. And she loved it! This garage apartment sits at 2800 feet on a secluded hill with the most incredible mountain views. It's rustic charm upstairs provides a very cabin-like feel with a cozy and comfortable living room, kitchen, separate bedroom and bath. The downstairs has a spacious rec room with TV and ping-pong table, a second refrigerator and a laundry. The host has outfitted the rental with high quality towels, kitchen appliances, utensils, plates, pots, pans, etc. to ensure us VRBOers lack nothing and enjoy our stay. And there is a table and chair set on the deck outside the bedroom where we enjoyed our morning coffee taking in the views. The cabin is close to both downtown Mountain City, TN and Damascus, VA. The Appalachian Trail, Virginia Creeper Bike Trail, Mt Rogers Recreation Area, Watauga Lake and much more are nearby as are grocery stores, gas and restaurants...so you can easily enjoy the great outdoors while having the daily conveniences close at hand. I highly recommend this property.

This place was perfect! It was very Clean and had everything that we needed. The view was amazing and the deck was so relaxing. It was really nice to get away for the weekend and recharge. Thank You for sharing your cabin with us.
