The Hotel Neon was, well, average. The rooms were clean, if a bit worn, but also sparse - a table and 2 chairs would make a world of difference (there was only the 2 beds). If you are booked there, be sure to request a room with an even number (trust me, you'll appreciate it, as the odd-numbered rooms back onto a disco that plays music until very late at night).
Food on the compound is expensive. A plate of chicken strips with fries and a plate with 3 tacos was a whopping $55.00 USD. Meanwhile, off compound I was able to get a whole lobster plate and a mixed seafood plate for $70.00 USD, so, you know...
On the plus side, the staff were extremely accommodating, and treated us well. Many of the staff speak english, and even those that don't try very hard to communicate with you. 5/5 stars!
Final Note: the currency of preference on the compound remains the US Dollar - in fact most cashiers have a calculator at the cash, and will do the USD- DOP conversion in front of you if you are using DOP.
